So beastmen who live in forests now move 2.5 inches threw them.........
i've played beastmen for years, yesterday i had a game against high elves(with my shiny new list from the new book), there happened to be a forest on the left and right flank, because of this i got bottle necked and absolutely crushed, because the high elf player had a star dragon and i could not take 2 turns to get threw 5 inches of forest.
i think the fact that we cant move freely through woods to be well frankly a bit ridiculous, centigors cant even move through woods anymore!!! ARGH......
anyway thats my little rant im just wondering if anyone else is as annoyed as i am?
It's vaguely irritating, isn't it? The fluff says the herds move through massive tracks run down by years of her migration. It still doesn't sit too well with me though, it's a shame. Perhaps terrain rules are changing in the next edition though?
Fantasy: Wood Elves, Dark Elves, Beastmen and Tomb Kings.
LotR: Misty Mountains and Rohan
When you place a woods just say it has a hidden beastmen lane in it that has been worn down over the centuries and beastmen can move through it with no penalties. I'm sure your opponent won't mind.

haha like a house rule? yeah that fluff does not sit well with me at all, it gets to me that wood elves can move threw woods and i cant, except for the raiders which isn much if you ask me.
The wood elves don't ever come out of their precious forest though, so they keep moving through the same area in which they've lived for hundreds of years. And elves are a bit more nimble then gors.
Just think of it this way; if you skirmish around, then your unit just swarms through a piece of terrain without any coherent formation. The herd is moving through the woods as a mass across the path and surrounding trees. But in battle they are moving as regiments, in formations that must stay together, and when there are trees in the way that's a bit harder.
At least you get 2.5 inch, my dwarfs crawl around 1.5" in forests, even though I'd rather take a turn to chop the entire piece of forest terrain down entirely.
In the new book, they changed the Centigors background, stating they don't hang around dense forest because they are too clumsy.
I agree it's a pain too, short of Raiders or Harpies we're screwed with terrain, but the style of Beastmen has changed, so it's far enough. We're no longe3r talking about little raiding parties, rather entire and massive armies...which might just struggle through woods
MASSIVE armies? With the current point costs for the core troops? It's more like hero- and monster-hammer-time.
Having still not seen the book, this is the first ive heard of this. And im definitely disappointed. GW really put little thought into this book other than "lets level it up for 7th ed".
