I'm pondering upon doing a Beastman army and the Razorgor has caught my eye. They seem fairly horendous with a high str, toughness and very high Attacks. Plus with high Movement and the Thunderous charge rule they seem to be very hard hitters..
.... but yet no one has them in the army lists. Is it purely the cost of the models or is there something majorly sinister I'm missing?
I still don't know all the 8th rules. Let alone the new monster ones.
The thing I've noticed w/ beastmen armies is that when they do have a monster on the field, all enemies target that instantly. Usually they don't last too long either. Granted the Razorgor is less of a "hey over here! look at me im HUUUUGE!!" than others, but it could draw attention.
Maybe people are waiting to see how the infantry rules pan out?
They seem great, and if I'm not mistaken, get primal fury as well. when I build my fast strike team, the razorgor will find a nice home in the army. With chariots, centigors and other fast moving monsters out there they will be great.
the models are a bit pricey, but I'm sure once people see their effectiveness, they will become more popular.
personally, I think the model is ugly as sin.
Yeah, fair enough the models are hideous but the new Boars from the Ork Boar Boys set look rather nice and they are absolutely huge. So I was thinking of just grabbing a set of those and converting them.
That's the problem with only taking one 'big thing'. You need to take two so your enemy either has to split fire or concentrate on 1 and leave the other alone. Plus, if the big thing is drawing all the fire the Gors aren't getting blasted!! So it's only really win win.
It really does seem odd that no one has them in lists. I mean what i wrong with 4 str5 attacks (str6 on charge) Plus with the Stomp rules they'll get another str5 attack at ASL.
I agree. I think they're a good price too. I'm dreaming of an army where a razorgor chariot, a few chariots and a block of warhounds just wreak havoc on the front lines of an enemy.
I'm still trying to master my first lists, then when I feel comfortable, I'll start messing around with the big ( and more expensive) guns.
I have about 12 minotaurs ( and doombull) that need to be put together, and that would be a great target.
With bestigors becoming more viable now, people may really underestimate them. being the same size as the other infantry may really help these guys escape the radar/ volleys. Granted, that's just a theory.
