How many ungor raiders are you all usually running in an ambush group currently? I'm thinking of two units of fifteen. What do you all think?
Vampire Counts-4000 Points
Black Templars-2000 Points
Unfortunately Ungor Raiders are Skirmishing units, and have been capped to 5-10 per unit. So if you have 30 Ungor Raiders, it will need to be 3 x 10 units, or maybe field 2 x 10 and have a ambushing team ready just in case something crops up or you need reinforcements.
Orc Army 40k. Wins 5 -2 Losses. Loss vs Chaos Marines.
Currently Collecting Dwarves WFB. Time to get my Beard on!
I don't see why you would run them anything but 5 man units. Instead of 10 guys getting wiped on a charge or to shooting, you only lose 5 max. This way you can also have more units ambush and as a result have a higher chance of getting guys on earlier in the game where you need them.
Be nice to your enemies, it will make them madder!
a 10 man unit of skirmishers can provide excellent cover to our better front lines.
10 ungor raiders actually pose a threat when they pop up behind the lines and with those numbers, might actually survive a round of shooting w/o fleeing/panic.
I believe that Ungor raider units are capped at 10.
@ work and no rule book, just off top of my head
wounding warmachines on 6s is fantastic. Even posing a threat for so cheap is great. 63 points for 10 ungor raiders + musician is way better than having your good units blasted.
Using 2 units forces your opponent to kill more models with less possibly gain for him. More threat points.
Mind you, they often decide not to show up together, but when they do, they drink Dos Aquis

are the matching ungor raiders on the field at beginning of battle screening units?
What size army is this for?
I love my ambushing units, but some people have cautioned against them. I'm not so sure why.
Yes, their leadership is deplorable. If anyone was to field a large block of ungor or gor ambushers, I'd suggest taking "ungrol four horn". Not such a big fan of his, but adding leadership to a large ambushing unit is a nice point.
I will also ambush with 20 Gors at 2,000 points.
units of 20 Ungors are cheaper, but not as effective on the charge (also less resilient, but that is irrelevent when charging rears!)
