1250 point game vs Vamp counts

Any advice out there? I'm considering trying to run at least 2 shamans with a herdstone to try and dominate the magic phase. My biggest concern are his ethereal units. There isn't much in the way of defense against them so I think a horde and 2 blocks of 25 for SCR might be in order. Any thoughts?

Ethereal units can really only be fended off with magic weapons in our army. Not many options there.

The things I would recommend are as follows:

    1. Bring a BSB. Failing Fear and/or Primal Fury = not fun. To boot, he can give the Gors S4 base, which will help them chew through those pesky Undead.
    2. Bring magic. You covered this already, so I'll just second this motion. I'd actually consider a Great Bray-Shaman if I were you, as they're decently fighty and can thus take a magic weapon.
    3. Bring Razorgors. They're immune to Fear by virtue of causing it, and Skeletons do NOT like T5 pigs running through their ranks.

I'd suggest you put up a list here for critique.

    Here's a quick list I'm working over.

1x Great Bray Shaman- Dispel Scroll, Fencer's Blades, Talisman of Preservation- 305 pts

1x Wargor- BSB, Beast Banner, HA, Shield, Gnarled Hide- 206 pts

39x Gors- AHW, FC, (BSB goes here)- 337 pts

24 x Bestigors- FC, War Banner, (Great Bray goes here)- 343 pts

    1x Razorgor- A.K.A. Bacon- 55 pts

    Total- 1246

Your Shaman has more than 100 points in magic items, so he's illegal. I'd downgrade the Talisman of Preservation to a Talisman of Endurance, and give him Uncanny Instincts with the remaining points. Looks solid otherwise (I use Bacon on one of my Razorgors too, cheers on that). What Lore will you use on your Shaman?

Will do on the Shaman. Thanks for pointing that out; that could have been embarrassing. I usually run Shadow but I'm considering beasts just because my Great Bray is going to be in with my bestigor. Might stick to shadow just because those debuffs are just too awesome.

If you're planning to fight Vampires, I'd actually recommend Lore of Beasts or Lore of Death, so you can slaughter those pesky Ethereals using spells like The Flock of Doom, the Amber Spear, or Spirit Leech. Shadow is awesome at everything but killing things directly, and unfortunately that's what you need to do against this matchup.

Bloodknights are evil. I chewed through both hordes of zombies and skeletons, but bloodknights are evil. EVIL I tell you
Granted my opponent was far more experienced and it was a pretty low point level. I got wiped out all the same But the league isn't over yet. Think I'll switch it up to a minos list with two level 2 wizards standing next to a herdstone. Spam melkoth's and let my doombull do his work. Time to go big or go home.

Tough luck on that game. Were the Bestigors unable to finish the Blood Knights? They knock their save down to a 5+.

Actually it was his Gravegaurd that got to them first. I think I'm converting to a minotaur list. Just did a test game at 1750 against warriors of chaos and I'm pretty impressed with what they can do.
