Is it a good idea to combine Hordes of Chaos with Beasts of Chaos. Does this make the army better or is it best to only have Beasts of Chaos?
That depends on your strategy. If you like the ambush part. And the superb mobility, you will degrade your army. For HoC can't compede with the mobility of BoC.
If you like an elite mele army and you still like the feral identity and the vitality of the BoC, adding HoC could improve it. Warriors can add core melee strenght and staying power. And the knights very fast bashing power. And they both can be marked.
It's all a matter of playing style and army composition.
It depends on your needs as to what you want out of Chaos. Consider the Mortals, Daemons and Beasts of chaos to be separate elements of a single army. Who you're fighting against will influence the selection of your general type and the choice of the units to include. You can decide to have a primarily infantry army (using warriors and marauders) assisted by the maneuverable beastherds and perhaps some flying daemons. Or you could have a much more maneuverable force of mainly beastmen, backed up by the solid power of warrior regiments, knights and daemonic infantry hordes.
Whatever type of chaos you choose, remember that the units of the other two types are always available to you as special choices. So there should always be something for every tactical occasion.
