I was thinking about whether to include a unit of Minotaurs or a giant to my chaos army, but I dont know which is better. So Beastmen players, please help me out and give me reasons why.
GamesmasterZ to the rescue....
I shall read your damn posts...
Anyway...Minotaurs, put them in.
As an experienced player of the beasts, ever since they came out in that one White Dwarf, I have always included the Taurs over the giant.
Sorry about the signature. I havent changed it yet. Okay so ill take some minotaurs. Are giants any good at anything or are they just useless. What ar they good at?
pissing me off
Minotaurs are far more reliable than a Giant, Giants (of all varieties) are unpredictable and not nearly as tough as they at first appear. A unit or two of skinks can take one down in a few turns with their poisoned shooting, and even normal shooting can kill a giant when there's enough of it (mainly because giants are usually unarmoured).
Take the minotaurs every time! (3 or 4 of them is about right).
And Kai-Huan-Mundi, that isn't a very helpful post. I'm not having a go at you, but if you keep posting pointless comments like that, you'll get yourself in trouble with the mods for spamming.
"Peace, through superior firepower."
Yea TL is right minos are alot cooler and go with the army theme more, also minotaurs will do more damage in battle also nice combos i are give them great weapons and mark of nurgle or khorne, Tzeenztch rather sucks for all. having rather highest stats than any basic troops and can even give chaos mortals a run of there money.
The minatuars are better tactically. But nothing beats the fun and randomness of a giant
Guess I'll throw down some points on the giant. The giant is a good staying force, what with his Stubborn and high leadership. He's almost guaranteed to hold, since you can't auto-break him with fear or terror, since he causes the latter. And for hunting big things- he's almost invaluable if they have low initiative (Thump With Club, I think). He can afford to plow right into the front of a unit and have a good chance of staying in combat until they break (which could be quite soon if you get a flank).
Minotaurs, on the other hand, don't have nearly as good a staying power. They have above-average leadership for beasts, but against a fully ranked unit they start combat down by 5, 4 if they take the expensive standard. You definitely have to pick your opponent wisely- something like dwarf warriors with heavy armour, hand weapon and shield and they'll just bounce off. But most humans and WS3 things die in droves and you can take them on.
Even though I play Khorne, the best minotaur set up has to be Nurgle 'taurs with great weapons in units of 4. Oh yeah, try and get 4 into combat. They extra few attacks is usually enough to push combats into your favor against weaker things.
I think that's everything, but I might think of more later.
Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, even if it's wrong.
Thanks for all the help. From all suggestion ive decided to use chaos minotaurs.
