How do the rest of you beast players deal with terror/fear with these guys. Its just been killing me. My rolls are about average but I can't do anything about it. Unless I always pass it just feels like it kills me. Take for example there was a Dark Elf unit of Cold One riders which cause fear, and I failed a fear test to charge their flank (which would have swayed the battle heavily in my favor) and instead they failed and there was nothing I could do to redeem myself. Is there any failsafes that can be use? SOMEBODY HELP?
has anybody gone against an empire steam tank? Is it just me or are these things over powered? Seriously, three beast herds, and a unit of screamers for 2 rounds of combat and I finally took it out.
does anybody else have a huge problem with not having any shooting? It seems that I have to deploy my units using cover so well and my opponents always get to just place them where they can get great charges off. Does anybody else have this problem and how do you solve it?

for the shooting. Use a few bestegor herds in the front, they can take quite a bit of damage. stick all your beast herds in ambush. even if you fail most of the leadership, you'll still over power them. If you do this your presious beast herds are more likely not to be shot at. and you;ll be in combat easyer.
Just use the spell un breakable or use the more brave units to fight Fear causeing Enemys...Originally Posted by The Green Knight
Yes those are both good plans. You could always go Slanneshi and be immune to psychology!!
Either that or make the fear causer charge the strongest, highest leadership unit you've got, and then smash it too bits!!
New LOChat functions now avaliable.

i agree with gingerninja, slaneeshi mark is the way to go, its also the cheapest mark
Dwarf & High Elf, can it work?

Technically the Undivided Mark is the cheapest, and it should do fine for fear/terror. Rerollable Ld7 is pretty decent, in my opinion. Of course, I play Khorne so the frenzy gives me Immune to Psychology anyways.
As far as the steam tank goes, yes, it is the opinion of most players that it is overpowered, and a lot of players around here don't use one because it unbalances the game. There is one player who does, and he openly admits to taking it only when he wants to win. At least with Chaos, we have access to the Bonecrusher mace which is practically made for damaging that thing. A basic beastlord with the Mace will on average take away about 20 hull points (6+4D6), if I did my math right and remember the steam tank rules accurately. So if you know your opponent is taking it, you can give that to a lord and use the lore of shadows first spell to fly him into the the thing and make it practically useless.
As for taking shooting damage, beasts do a lot better than most combat-based armies. We're faster, and have a lot of skirmishers so it's harder to hit us. Not only that, but ambushing herds will break a gunline in a hurry, and artillery aren't a problem (with the exception being the hellblaster volleygun and similar artillery- ie the organ gun). If you are still having trouble with taking casualties, then screen with the very cheap hounds, or a herd made mostly of ungors.
Hope that helps.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, even if it's wrong.
