Hi everyone, i am new to WHFB and this is my first post here  I like BOC and Breton. Since there are too many breton armies in my area, i decided to build a beasts army to fight them. I have the following preferences:
1. doombull minotaurs army
2. magic heavy army - beastherds (tzeentch) + screamers and some chaos spawns
3. high speed army - slaannesh beasts + chariots + chaos knights and some minotaurs or chaos spawns
I have not much details yet for each of the above ideas but want to know if one of them get upperhand vs knights-only-breton, and then think more details with that one. Any ideas from you experienced generals?
I'm going to go ahead and say I think it is more tacits than just what type of army to play. However, I would rule out the minotaur army. that I know won't fair well. But the others should play fine. I play Tzeench personally, and it is a good all around army. But a smart bret player well have damsels and magic resistence and such. Slannesh is a good fit for beasts because it helps with teh crappy leadership which might come into play if a lot of your units are getting broken in combat. The biggest advice I have for you is to not be afraid to flee from a charge. Start with picking up a couple of beast herd because you will need them for either army. And then maybe proxy and play small 500 point army of each and see which you like.
Agree with you that it is about tactics (Y) . Actually, I learnt many from your posts in this forum  Could you share your thought about the disadvantage of the minotaur army vs bret? Regarding your tzeentch beasts, did you get rid of your bestigor unit yet? Whats the substitute? Also, whats good to have a unit of 5 screamers instead of 3?
Sorry for that many questions at the same time
That I can answer! I used to take a unit of 4 Screamers in my army, until I realised that five is far better! Firstly because it means they then have a high enough unit strength (each Screamer is only US 1 remember) to provide a +1 or +2 for flank or rear attacks against enemy units. Although they won't nullify enemy rank bonuses of course because they're skirmishers.Originally Posted by Zai
The other benefit of having 5 is staying power. A unit of 5 will usually last longer that a unit of 3 (but that goes for any unit really!). Although more is better, be careful about taking too many Screamers. I'd never take more than about 6-8 maximum, partly because they get expensive fast, but also because the more of them there are, the more difficult it gets to hide them all behind terrain so they don't get shot or charged!
