Where do you get your S6 or S7 attacks from? Bestigo, Chaos Ogres, Minotaurs, Dragon Ogres, Shaggoths, Giants, Mercenary Ironguts or Maneaters? Discuss.
I'm partial to Chaos Ogres, Ironguts or Dragon Ogres. I hate to waste the minotaur's initiative, and I like to have enough wounds to ensure attacks back, so no bestigor. Giants are really more specialized than I want, and Maneaters are a little too expensive/vulnerable to shooting. What do others think?
bestigors and minotaurs.
I'm not a great fan of the Bestigor point price, but they make a good unit for my characters to get into. Lately, I'm running a chaos sorceror mortal in with them for ldshp 8 and chaos armor. Minotaurs are cool and mine are nurglized, so they usually stick around unless the opponent has it out for them. Personally, I think with the movement of the troops, Beastmen are meant and usually should get the charge off first. None of the units are meant to stand and take it in a long - drawn out battle. They should charge and then pursue. If Im stuck in combat for a long time, then I'm either playing undead or something bad is going on.
I like your second point, my monsters get charged too often, and I should revise my tactics to prevent this.
Unfortunately I run a Khorne army. Otherwise I'd be loving the nurgle minotaurs
yeah, I just read that. It would have been cool, but I guess mortals and demons and beasts just don't get along that well. Either that, they just don't like each other's smell.
I'll put him back down to shaman and see what happens.
I've found, that spawns are my best friends, they get inthe way, usually just long enough for my other guys to get around the flank or catch up. That would be harder ina Khorne army though, you may not roll well and they might get stuck behind the rest of the army. They are still helpful. If you break, the enemy can't follow you if you have a spawn on their tail. It gives you a chance to rally and possibly re-attack.
