What's this! A non-GW blog!

Well, mostly non-GW. Here's the only GW bit for those who've been following my blog in any way. my duel miniature has finally been started, 2 days before the deadline! I don't know whether or not I'll finish it on time, what I do now though is that I won't be seeing my friend til next week sometime so I can give it to her then!
Right, that's that bit out of the way, now to talk about Magic!
Recently I've got more and more into magic: the gathering. I've got quite a lot of cards now, from various sets, and am starting to look into playing more and more different formats. The thing that's really starting to put me off though is the price. I'm looking at making a whole load of wacky, fun decks but it just seems that there's always a card that does the job so much better except it costs a whole load more. There seems to be a pressure to play all the good cards too and I can't seem to compete with power gaming decks. Sometimes I just want a deck for fun!

Lower power level cards and commons shouldn't be underestimated. I have friends who have won local tournaments with nothing but common cards. Thats usually where a lot of the good combos area.
It helps if you can find friends who play casually. Most of my friends and I are not very serious and it's not unusual for one of our multiplayer games to go on for an hour or more. Some of my friends have decks with over 500 cards in them. They are actually really nasty but it takes them about 5 turns before they get going.Posted November 2nd, 2009 at 04:17 by Wafflebob
