well, as the title suggests, this blog is about the arena of death forum, and anything to do with that that i want to post.
Firstly, i'll post my characters and how they've done (I shamelessly stole the idea from Daelrog) as well as future characters i plan to enter, and comment on my own arenas of death.
So, i'm kicking this off with my first ever arena entrant:
Psa-Trel the unfeeling
Psa-Trel was a middle-ranking king of Khermi before Nagash's great spell. He was famed for his wisdom in peace, and his prowess in war. He was incredibly handsome, and incredibly kind. However, he had one flaw in his character: Jealousy. He grew to hate and fear the greatest Dynasty of the time, The Phoneticans.
One day he vanished from Khermi for several months, before returning on golden dragon he had single handedly tamed as his war mount. His return with such a mighty power caused his armies to march on the Phonetican citadel, with the dragon and the king leading the way. Shortly before he reached the Citadel he and his sons slipped away from the column, using the distraction of their assault to reach deep into the citadel. When they finally reached the throne room, Psa-Trel rushed at the aging king, only to be frozen in place by invisible power. The liche priests entered the room, transfixing him with their powers. Forming a circle around him, they began to chant an ancient curse, wrapping him in tendrils of magic as he tried to escape.
He had been cursed to feel nothing but hate, pain, thirst, and hunger for all eternity, along with all those loyal to him. He could no longer die. He and his army were sealed inside a pyramid, until a week afterwards, when another king released them from their imprisonment, in order to vanquish the Phoneticans with his undying army. Psa-Trel accepted, and crushed the Phoneticans with his unkillable army, led by the king on his once-great dragon. After the battle, he search through their horde in vain for a way to break his curse, before his army left Khermi to seek the cure or permanent destruction in the wider world.
Now Psa-Trel has the body of a liche preist, clad in the regelia of the tomb kings. His once beautiful face now resembles little more than a husk, and little sanity remains, driven out by continual pain, hunger, and thirst. All he seeks is death as a final release, but always regenerates after being killed. He and his dragon attack anywhere there are powerful items or magicians, but in vain.
He came to the arena in the hope an opponent with a weapon that can truly kill him, or magic prize powerful enough to end his curse.
Tomb king,
flail of skulls,
vambraces of the sun,
armour of the ages,
shield

soo.. my first ever arena character, using a borrowed book.
Round One: fighting a goblin named spider bark. With no reason for it other than the optimism of those who don't know their opponent's power, i was sure i would win against a mere goblin. Oh, and there was my opponent's reaction to the pairing: "Thus dies Spider Bark."
well, i won the match... but only just.. i was down to one wound, but it was a very well written match.
Round two: fighting a lizardman named tzotzomatzin, owned by the arena organiser. Once again, i was optimistic, but i lost in the end. My opponent was doing a good amount of damage, but i couldn't get through his ward save with my luck. With better luck that could have gone my way.
Note: Tzotzomatzin won the arena in the end, and has now reached the final of my one. At least i lost to a good build
Final thoughts:
well, i enjoyed the writeups, but they didn't quite capture my character's personality or the fact that he wasn't a normal tomb king.
As to the build, it was hindered by the lack of a modifier for tomb kings, which definately worked against me.
The buid itself though, i would give 6/10
more to come.
