Had a great four way game of Killzone the other night with some pals and I thought it was worth shedding light on. If you're unaware, Killzone is a quickie, skirmish based add-on for 40k that is community made. Think Kill Teams but not an abortion. If you want to check it out, follow the magic link.

Anyways, I brought my new Ork Team against Tyranids, Orks and Space Marines (Vanilla!). We played a standard table quarters, bash the other guys down mission with 250 points each.

Awesome Orks (Me)
Mega Nob w/ PK and Medipack (FNP and one FNP roll per turn to a friendly within 6")
3 Lootas w/ Crack Shot (Re-roll failed hits or wounds)
3 Slugga Boyz
3 Shoota Boyz, 2 Big Shoota w/ Crack Shot
2 Lobbas (Not legal but we wanted to see if they worked well)

Bad, Mean Orks (Tiny)
Killa Kan w/ Rokkit and Armor Plates
3 Lootas w/ Crack Shot
3 Burnas
1 Big Shoota w/ Crack Shot
1 Stormboy
1 Stormboy Nob w/ PK

Cthulu Enthusiasts (JP)
Warrior w/ Barbed Strangler
3 Rippers w/ Toxin
2 Genestealers w/ Talons
3 Hormies w/ Assault Grenades
3 Termies
1 Shrike w/ Dual Swords and Medipack
1 Ravener w/ Rending

Ew Marines (Some Guy)
1 Lascannon Tactical Marine
1 ML tactical Marine
6 Tactical Marines
3 Sternguard

Table was a 4x4 with a lot of terrain. Every quarter had a building or rubble pile, with forests and more rubble in the center. Good LoS for everyone, but tons of cover.

Tiny went first, then Some Guy, then JP, then Me. We all hugged our home terrain pieces, putting shooters in the upper floors. I put my Sluggas and Nob around the base to protect my Lootas, Some Guy did the same with his Tacticals. The Tyranids prepared to run the Ravener, Stealers and Hormies at me, the rest at the Marines. Tiny copied my deployment, even though he did it first.

Game Turn 1
Tiny started us off by zooming his Storm Boyz over to say hi to the Marines, rushing the Burnas at me and killing two of my Lootas with his Lootas. The Kan walked toward the Marines as well but couldn't get cover and it's Rokkit flew wide of the Lascannon.

Some Guy then went on the defensive, Boltering down the Storm Boyz thanks to the Sternguard, killing two Termagaunts and moving away from the Kan. Both Heavy Weapons flew wide of the Kan, to the sudden nervousness of all Power Armor present.

JP moved forward with his plan, rushing my building and moving toward the Marines. A Barbed Strangler shot claimed one Sternguard but no assaults were made as the 'Nids hugged cover for dear life.

I moved my Sluggas and Nob up to wall the Tyranids off and moved to Shooting. The Evil Orks setting up shop next door were quick to dodge my Loota fire, although I did snag one Burna. The Lobbas kicked in, killing 1 Stealer, 2 Hormies and Pinning the Ravener and Hormie. Pistols finished off the last Stealer.

We rolled Priority and it came up Me, Tiny, Some Guy and JP.

Game Turn 2
I intended to get the bugs out of my space but I also had to clear out some of that Ork Shooting. The Nob moved up to charge the Hormie and the Sluggas fell back to cover. I snagged one Burna and one Loota for my trouble, which wasn't looking good. In Assault the Ravener Reactive Assaulted in to help the Hormie, but was punched in the face for his trouble. The Hormie held.

Tiny didn't take kindly to me roughing up his Boyz, but he hated the Marines more. The Kan continued it's arduous trek for something to Assault and the Burna ran over to my building gleefully. In Shooting I lost a Slugga Boy to the Flamer and Ork shooting killed the Lascannon and one Sternguard. The Mega Nob and Hormie tickle fight to a draw.

Some Guy was feeling the walls closing in. The Marines moved away from the Kan and Rapid Fired on the Shrike with all their Bolters, doing nothing. The ML missed the Kan and a head fell into hands as the turn ended. The Hormie tickles my Nob again, but I trick him and crush his skull, moving 4" toward the Tyranids.

JP was effectively removed from my neck of the woods, so he went at the Marines. The Strangler bounced off my Lootas as the Shrike and Rippers piled into three Marines. The Shrike tore one in half, as one Marine fled and the other stayed. The Shrike and one Ripper moved 4" towards the Marine building.

We rolled Priority again and JP, Tiny, Some Guy and me.

Game Turn 3
JP pressed the issue, charing the last Sternguard after the Strangler missed again. It was ripped apart by the Shrike who went into cover with the Ripper.

Tiny kept the pressure on the Marines, moving in with the Kan and shooting the ML and my last Loota down using all his Lootas and Big Shoota. The Burna killed a Shoota Boy in an unimpressive display.

Some Guy moved away from the Kan again, unloading into the Shrike for no damage as his fleeing Marine ran off the board.

I moved my Nob toward the Strangler Warrior and moved the Slugga Boyz toward the Evil Ork building. Shooting killed the Burna, one Loota and Pinned the other Loota. The two Rippers finally killed their Marine after doing nothing for three turns and moved 4" toward cover.

Priority was Me, Tiny, Some Guy and JP.

Game Turn 4
I wanted to finish off Tiny as I didn't have a good way of dealing with the Kan. My best hope was to kill his Shooting and not worry about the Kan since it was so far, hopefully it would fail it's Leadership test and flee. (Once your Team gets to 25% or less, you test every turn to see if they leave the game.)

Sadly I whiffed and did no damage. My Nob moved to Assault the Warrior next turn and the Sluggas closed in on the building.

Tiny moved his Kan to charge next turn as the Tyranids were suddenly nervous too. Shooting did nothing to the Tyranids.

Some Guy continued hiding from the Kan, again doing nothing to the Shrike with Bolters.

JP charged the last Marines with his Rippers, flying the Shrike over to the Evil Ork building. The Rippers took a few wounds but ate a Marine and held.

Priority was once again Me, Tiny, Some Guy and JP.

Game Turn 5
I enacted my plan from last turn as my Nob got over to the Warrior, although the Slugga Boyz were still a bit off of the building. Shooting proved effective and killed all of Tiny's Orks but the Kan, which Lobbas scattered off. The Rippers and Marines did nothing to each other as usual as I rolled double 1's to wound the Warrior. Powerklaws are for shaking hands, not violence.

Tiny immediately failed his Leadership Test and was removed from the game. We all found this hilarious as the Kan was basically unchallenged but still got scared for some reason. Stupid Grots.

Some Guy did not flee the board and killed a Swarm but lost a Marine, leaving him with one.

JP charged into the last Marine with the other Ripper, doing nothing. The Shrike flew towards my Nob, sad that all the delicious shooty Orks were gone.

Priority went Me, JP and Some Guy.

Game Turn 6
I threw all my firepower at the Warrior and killed it after a Slugga Boy put the barrel to it's head and did what Orks do. The Rippers lost a wound for no return but held.

JP avoided routing but accomplished nothing in his turn as the Assault was a standstill.

Some Guy promptly ran off the board with his last Marine, content to not have died for his many failures.

Priority went JP and then Me.

Game Turn 7
The Rippers ran up on the Nob after against exhibiting shocking bravery.

I Shoot and Assault all the Rippers to death. :]

Awesome Orks Win!

Overall I had a lot of fun playing a game that was busting heads and a lot of craziness. I play Killzone pretty often, about as often as 40k. It can be a nice breather from a long game to play something fast paced and different. I heartily recommend checking it out and if people think it's cool, I can do more Reports. Hopefully with better, non-been up since 4am yesterday writing.
