After reading through some of my old white dwarfs and hearing about an up-coming 1000pt tournament that will be running at our local gaming group, I decided to collect another army; actually, more precisely another 2 or 3 armies.
So, having been inspired by the good old 'tale of 4 gamers' I have decided to do a similar thing. I am going to document the processes of collecting another army - from start to finish. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I plan to.
The only problem I have come across is the fact that I am building 3 different armies at once - so, in due course, I will atempt to document all 3.
For interested parties, the armies that I am collecting this time around are Imperial Guard, Eldar (Biel Tan) and Imperial Fist Space Marines.
I'll get the first article up over the weekend sometime (or failing that on Monday).
Cheers,

Primarch, Progenitor (III)...

After a brief sojourn into the other side of the forces of the Emperor (my fledgling Imperial Guard – update will be coming soon) I returned to my yellow space marines.
My last entry left off with me getting all excited over everything, and to that end I have actually done something!
My next purchase was a Suppression Force set (2 Whirlwinds and a Land Speeder) which I promptly put together in one afternoon, well the Whirlwinds at least. So within two days I had a nice artillery battery primed and ready to hit the table top.

Deciding that I had enough Heavy Support for the time being I moved on to the assault marines that are in the Battleforce.
Now everyone’s assault marines are the same and me being me I wanted to do something a little different – but what? Major converting (with greenstuff and all that) is a little beyond me and I cast around for ideas on how to get a nice theme across with my marines. Then it hit me, what is one thing that all the models in the army have in common? The bases!
Reading through some rather old WD’s I came across a story of assault marines attacking an Ork camp and dropping in on them, and I thought to myself that that sounded pretty cool – but I didn’t have any orks. Cue the faithful (or in this case traitorous) guardsmen!
My Assault Squad is now twice the height of a normal marine thanks in kind to the poor unfortunate souls who are getting a whole lot of space marine on them.
Basically I drilled some holes into the base and a couple of guardsmen and modelled them so the Assault marines are landing on them and knocking them off their feet.
It turned out pretty good if I do say so myself – I’ll post pictures if I ever get around to taking some.
Anyway, I’m not sure what my next step will be for these guys – I am working on my Guard currently so it could be a while before the sons of Dorn get some more attention.
