I have just come from reading 'Sudden Dearth' chapters 1&2. The writing is well executed and easy to enjoy. But I have a bit of difficulty that you can maybe help me with?

When you invented Walters, what was it about him that you thought would make us cheer for him, empathize with him, want to follow his life?

Walters has met some very bad officers. And he wants to survive, and is willing to do whatever it takes. But is there anything more to him?

I enjoy your writing style very much. This particular character...well, perhaps he will grow on me. Please keep writing, you do have talent!

Sudden Dearth was actually my first completed fan-fic novel and I guess for that reason is still my favourite.

With Walters I wanted to write about someone who didn't toe the Imperial line. Who was a bit less indoctrinated and willing to fight back. He tends to get into all sorts of problems but just keeps on pushing through. With a little bit of help from his friends of course. I was also playing around a bit with the 40K universe and added some stuff from the universe I created for my other SF writing.

I won't tell you how he, and the other, characters evolve. That would be a spoiler for the rest of the story.
