Welcome, readers!

This is where I will be posting any relevant news about my Space Marines army the Nebula Raiders, my Imperial Guard army the Birds of Prey, and my campaign the Battle for Duglum XIII.

Comments always welcome!

  1. Baptism of Fire - First Attempt with Dark Eldar

by , July 1st, 2010 at 16:30 (Nebula Raiders and Birds of Prey)
To test my first army list and to see how Dark Eldar play, I proxied a game against my friend's Chaos Space Marines. A game which shall now be reported on. Please refer to the previous blog entry for the army lists, mission, and deployment phase.

    Turn 1
My opponent brought his entire army onto the table on turn one and already used the smoke launchers on his dreadnought which was closest to my wych squad in its hiding place. Nothing else ...

  2. Death Lords, Dark Eldar Cabal

by , July 1st, 2010 at 14:43 (Nebula Raiders and Birds of Prey)
Warhammer 40,000 has been put on ice here: it is summer, the weekends are full of festive events, and at the very same time it is exams time. Almost four weeks and only a single game. Nonetheless, this one is worthy of a report!

I accidentally bought a box of Dark Eldar warriors on Ebay. Shipping included, I paid less than a quarter of the official GW price (without shipping) for the box, and I didn't expect to win the auction.

  3. Scorched Earth

by , June 7th, 2010 at 15:30 (Nebula Raiders and Birds of Prey)
Last weekend I played my first game of Battle Missions.

Because I did not know the book before we used it, my opponent and I agreed to randomly determine the mission first and then devise army lists. We were playing Space Marines (my good Nebula Raider bikers) versus Chaos Space Marines. The dice picked one of the most humane missions I have seen in the book: Scorched Earth (or whatever it's called in English, this is just my personal attempt at translation).

    The mission ...

  4. Battle Missions

by , June 7th, 2010 at 14:17 (Nebula Raiders and Birds of Prey)
A member of my gaming group bought the Battle Missions book a while ago. We never got to try it out until last weekend. I've only looked at about 12 missions in full detail and a handful more in less detail, but my mind is already set: the book is pretty much a failure in regards to the way it is supposed to be used...

You are supposed to take a balanced army and randomly select one of the missions in the book. This is supposed to be a tactical challenge. Well: it's more than that, ...

  5. From the Shadows & How Dawn of War Wrecks Ravenguard

by , May 23rd, 2010 at 16:08 (Nebula Raiders and Birds of Prey)
And - as promised - a fifth short battle report. This time a foot-slogging Nebula Raiders force under command of Captain Achilles, who counts as Shrike ruleswise. The army list is thus similar to Ravenguard lists and relies heavily on infiltration.

It was supposed to be a test game for that type of army, and I got just about the best test conditions I could get: dawn of war and annihilation totally screwed my strategy and showed me that such an army definitely has a huge weakness ...
