Hey,
I'm bored again so it's blog time!
Well I played a game today, against an empire force, Ulric worshippers. The opposing general was actually surprisingly clever with his Ulrician force - he managed to avoid most of my fire power! Which was fearsome - a Flame Cannon, cannon, and Bolt thrower, along with two units of thunderers, although I deployed one of them along with my rangers on my right, which gave me in total a force of 20 warriors, 10 thunderers, and 10 rangers facing 6 Ulrician knights, a large unit of Spearmen, a large unit of free company, a large unit of halberdiers, and a large unit of 16 hand gunners. Supported by a cannon, two captains, and two priests of Ulric - it was a large mountain to climb. So I've written a small Narrative about it
The Battle of Karag Dron.
While travelling south to rendezvous with Lord Thurgotson's main force - they had been advancing to the east of the force when they were distracted by a force of Greenskins. They defeated this force, and while giving chase, Thane Gronir's force came across an Ulrician company of around ninety men.
The wild Ulrician captain shouted a Challenge across a small Plateau, and both forces lined up for battle in an old settlement. Thane Gronir put his artillery on his right flank, with his warriors on the left. Unfortunately, the Ulricians quickly redeployed - leaving the fearsome array of artillery nothing to shoot at!
Nonetheless, Thane Gronir's force of forty on the left flank prepared themselves for the oncoming battle - outnumbered over two to one.
The rangers sneaked forward, taking cover in some ruins, firing their bows at the advancing greatswords, before pulling out their axes. The Knights charged forward screaming, the Longbeards running forward to meet them, the only thunderers unit fired into the mass of horses and a trio of Knights feel to the ground, before smashing into the longbeards, these men held their ground and repulsed to Knights quickly, hewing all except for the captain and the priest down, who turned, fleeing. The other group of Warriors lead by Gronir charged forward, crashing into combat with the Halberdiers. The Longbeards followed up their advantage, charging into the free company who broke, the Longbeards chasing them to the ground, slaughtering the lot and capturing their banner to add to their collection. The Halberdiers also broke under the pressure of the Dwarf warriors, who in turn ran them down too. The Spearmen crashed into the Longbeards, as the Priest and captain rallied and charged into the flank of the Long beards, who held their ground to the last man, allowing Thane Gronir to smash into the Flank of the spearmen, scything through them like wheat. The Dwarf Warriors took a charge from the Captain and Priest, and though they lost their champion and half of their squad, they managed to drag both from their high horses. The Miners weathered a storm of grapeshot to kill the cannon crew. The Handgunners and Spearmen withdrew from the battle as a well placed cannon shot saw off the three remaining greatswords.
Special honours were given to the Longbeards and Rangers for their actions.
May Valaya protect their souls.
