Well another trip to Warhammer world with my empire wielding friend. Starting to get bored of Empire but hey, at least I can play!

Well we arrived at around 10:30 and got playing quite quickly.

The first game was by far the best game I've played so far, I had a cannon on my left flank along with some rangers, and my Long Beards, Warriors, Thunderers, Quarrellers, Bolt Thrower, Thane, and Master Engineer on my right. He deployed his Spearmen, free company, knights, and archers on my right, and his cannon in the centre. I had first turn, and fired everything I had at him, he took a few casualties but nothing ran away, and he managed to moved forward, getting quite close to me as my Warriors and Longbeards moved forward to cut off his Knights, which managed to take the full fire-power of my Quarrellers, Thunderers, and Bolt Thrower, only taking one casualty! they then swept into my flank while the Spearmen occupied my CC (the Free company fled quit quickly). I did manage to spring a nice trap on the spearmen, seeing them off the board in one turn, the long beards charging one turn then the Warriors flank charging the next. so the Knights rolled up my right flank, taking quite few casualties, and I was left by the fourth or fifth turn with my long beards and warriors pretty much out of it, having chased the Spearmen too far, and with my Thunderers and master engineer staring at the Knights. Bravely my Master Engineer flank charged the knights, but was seen off quickly and they charged my Thunderers. I stood my ground and fired at the oncoming knights. One fell from the saddle. They then overran and destroyed my Thunderers, and went on to chase down my warriors, as the game ended. After working out victory points, the game ended with a marginal victory for me, the stand and shoot reaction having won me the game - reducing the expensive knight unit to half strength!

Aaargh ok time to finish!

Werlll the second game was quite interesting, I sat on a hill like a n00b (yeah you heard me) ad blew away pav's knights because there was NO WAY I was letting them do what they did last game and so poured alll my fire-power into them! Woo! This kind of annoyed my friend, and he only stopped complaining about me sitting there and shooting at him (surprising with an engineer army I'll grant you, no wait!) when a staff member came for a chat (they do that) and he asked him how he beat Dwarfs n the guy gave him some advice told him where he was going wrong and the numpty almost beat me! Though I demonstrated my awesome fire power by whipping out his free company in the one turn it presented itself as a target. His Spearmen annoyingly held off my Long beards (grrr) and his archers managed to hold a table quarter! All in all it was a solid victory for me, thanks to a lucky shot from my cannon destroy his and half it's crew.

The third game was a switch round, him going shooty and me going CC, and this didn't end well for me, seeing as the only CC units I had avaliable were 10 Warriors, 15 long beards, 8 miners and a handful of rangers (whom were useless even on the charge! 6 attacks, 3+ to hit, 5 MISSES!) and after this quick and slightly boring (on both sides) game we went in search of worthy opponents to play an allied game against (2,000 or 3,000 points).

This brings me nicely on to a small issue I have!
:pissed-off:WARNING: RANT ALERT:pissed-off:

How come, EVERYONE plays 40k? me and my friend were LITERALLY the only people to be there all day (and the hall was pretty full at times) to be playing fantasy?

Ok ok, I can see the appeal of 40k. I may not like it, but I can see why people do. It is quite a diverse story and there's lots you can do with it (not that people tend to do much) but the Fantasy world has just as much opportunity for Inventiveness, imagination, and creativeness. Also, I personally thought that was what separated the Hobby of tabletop gaming, and games workshop games, from the mush of computer games! Being able to do your own thing, paint your guys however you want to paint them, have your own story behind them, your own characters, and your own personal feel to playing with your own personal army that no one else has. Tabletop gaming allows you to make an army that is entirely yours - none other like it and all completely your own, posed differently, and painted differently, but close enough together through story and the general look (i.e you can tell a space marine from a dwarf) to all be linked together. The fantasy game gives you just as much opportunity for this (as well as having just as much, if not more, fun) as 40k, yet I PURELY saw 40k armies, and going through these armies there was another realisation I made. As I walked down the lane of gaming tables we were in, I saw a similar pattern to the armies being used, it went something like this: Space marines, Space marines, Tau, Chaos Space Marines, Eldar, Space marines, Necrons, Space marines, space marines, orks (anomaly), space marines, space marines, tau.

How many armies are there in 40k? To make matters worse - the one thing that united all of the gamers was that they were GW staff! Not just little kids with no imagination, but the people who play the game for a living! You would of thought at least THEY had the opportunity to do something else, surely! and things got even worse! Here's how the chapters of the Space marines went (as far as I could tell): Unique, Unique,Ultramarines, Unique, Ultramarines, Unique, Ultramarines. yes, 3 Ultramarine armies! COME ON! The guys painted on the box? it's like 8th Cadian or the Black Legion, just your basic bog standard this-is-how-games-workshop-painted-them-and-their-story-behind-them-so-I-don't-give-a-flying-tosspot-that-I'm-doing it the same silly way! It's just a lack of imagination in my eyes, you can paint your army HOWEVER YOU WANT, to make it personal to YOU. What's the point in making them look the same as the dude next to you? It'd just be boring. Why bother collecting your own Table Top army when you could buy a computer game and get basically the same thing for alot cheaper?

Rant over.

Empire.
No Additional Rules.

Dwarfs.
Ironclads.
The Dwarfs make their ships out of Iron, and have steam engines. Therefor Dwarf ships cost an extra 10 points, but have +2 Toughness. Also, they do not have masts, instead they have Chimneys, which count as Masts in every way, they are however much slower than ordinary ships, and lose 2 speed, but are unaffected by wind.
one so I haven't wasted all this effort![/U]

Boarding Ships

Most Naval battles are settled by Boarding Actions – and as such each ship is assumed to have an array of Boarding planks, grappling hooks, and other boarding equipment.

To Board another Vessel, a ship must declare a charge Or Boarding Action against the other ship. The Attacking ship is then moved in the same way as a charger, so that the sides of both ships are parallel, and the ships are within 1” of each other. Then Units from either ships (Boarding Planks work both ways) may cross as if crossing difficult terrain. They may charge other Units and fight in basically the same way as an ordinary close combat.

When two ships are in a boarding action, they do not move (for simplicity’s sake), but may still fire their war machines at any ship, including the one boarding them; as long as there are no enemy units on the same deck as that warmachine (The crew’s won’t really be wanting to fire their weapon, they’d rather be scrambling around trying to find weapons!). A wise captain will get troops onto all decks as soon as possible (it’s impossible to miss at such short range as described earlier).

All units on board ships are assumed to be Unbreakable – there’s no were to run to after all!

Ship Captains.
The Ship’s captain is the Warband’s Commander. If he is killed then the Entire crew must take a leadership test using the model with the highest leadership’s leadership. If passed then the model with the highest Leadership is made captain, if they are all equal then select one. If failed – the ship surrenders. If there are enemy units onboard then one must stay on at all times and the ship stays still. If there are no enemy units aboard then the ship just stays still until recaptured by it’s own side or captured by the enemy. To be recaptured a ship must have at least one friendly unit (that hasn’t surrendered) and no enemy units.
A captured ship is worth 200 victory points – plus the victory points for the Units on board and the ship it’s self.
If there is more than one ship, then count the ship’s without commanders as having lost their captain but passed their leadership test.

Collisions:
Sometimes ships may crash into one another or a piece of terrain, if this happens, then there is a collision. A collision against a ship and a piece of terrain works like this: the ship takes 2D6 hits at the same strength as the number of inches the ship moved in it’s movement phase (obviously a ship that smashes into a rock is going to take more damage than one that merely bumps into it!). If a ship hits another ship, then BOTH ships take 2D6 Hits at the strength of the number of inches of the ship, that moved furthest in it’s

Aside from these rules I mean to expand into the Campaigns and Leagues part of Warbands, and I wish to have Ship Upgrades Including: Crows Nest, Ram, Assault Boats, and Toughened Hull. Also, if some keen modellers who are interested in this want to make themselves a ship, and send me a picture or two for a small "Hobby" Section, that would be neat. Thanks and hope you decide to play this with someone, so I haven't wasted all this effort!

Warhammer Fantasy Battles: Warship is an expansion of the WHFB game mechanic, it involves naval warfare, on a smaller scale than Man O War.

The wooden hull of "Sigmar's Hammer" crashed through the waves, the Frigate's bow crashing through the waves. The ship's captain, Karl Fredrickson, raised his spy glass to his eye and scanned the dense Fog about his ship. "Damn it." He growled, causing his first mate to turn in astonishment, "What is it, sir?"
"We've lost sight of the bloody fleet. Damn this fog." The ship was sailing, now alone in the great ocean, trying to find the fleet that had briefly engaged a heavily defended Dwarf Convoy. "Let's just pray those damn Ironclads don't follow us. Damn Damn Damn!" The captain shouted the last words frustratedly, then was deadly silent, "Do you hear that?" there was a faint rumbling sound rolling out of the fog. A shape was barely visible in the fog, "Sigmar protect us; Beat to quarters!" the captain whispered, and was echoed three times a bos'uns carried the order across the ship. A drum blasted out a quick beat. The Gun-hatches opened and the long barrels of the frigate's 4 great cannons thrust outwards. "Let us hope the stuntys don't decide to fight." there was a red and orange flash in the fog on the port side, "All hands! DOWN!" screamed the captain as he threw himself onto the floor, "Gun crews! Fire at Will! Fire at Will!"
"Fire!" Screamed a Midshipman, and his gun was blasted backwards on it's small box shaped carriage. The Low profiled Dwarven Ironclad steamed out of the fog, and the Midshipman saw the cannonball simply bounce of it's Metal hull. The other Port side cannon fired, this time smashing into the water infront of the menacing enemy ship. The ironclad turned, three cannon muzzles were now pointed towards the ship. They fired a full broadside in unison, and "Sigmar's Hammer"'s decks were sprayed with splinters as the cannon balls ripped through the wooden hull. Men's limbs were torn from their bodies, the floor becoming slick with blood, the survivors tried to reload, as the starboard battery also fired at another, smaller, dwarf ship that came up on that side. The weaker Dwarf sloop's hull cracked under the impact, and water started to flow in. Suddenly, as the men cheered the sinking sloop, the frigate wwas engulfed in the Shadow of a dwarf dreadnought, "Grimnar's Vengeance" it fired one, massive, broadside at the Frigate, and the Mast came tumbling down onto the tattered remains of the deck, trapping the captain, who's left leg and hand were nothing more than a bloody pulp. The crippled ship tried to turn to return fire at the dreadnought, but found it'self slowly drifting away, with water rushing into the lower decks, causing the rats to run upwards, in the futile hope of saving themselves. Men jumped into the water, as the Frigate turned, it's keel raising high into the air, and sunk, slowly, into the blue waves.

Warship uses the same rules as Warhammer FB: Warbands.
The Points range is from 100-600 points per Fleet, fleets may ally and combine to form one larger fleet however, and all units skirmish, there is also no limit on war machines that count as a "Special" choice.

As the start of a game, decide which direction is north, then roll a D6, on a 1 the wind is blowing north, on a 2 or 3 then it’s blowing west, if 4 or 5 then East, and if it’s a 6 then South, do the same for current.

There are however, a few differences.
There are 2 main things that are different:
 The Ships.
 The Shore Batteries.

The Ships provide a completely different environment for the crews to fight in. Therefore, all squads count as skirmishers, and have a maximum regiment size of 4. There is no minimum regiment size. This is to break up the combat phase into several smaller skirmishes, instead of one huge close quarters fight. This also creates a more tactical game. Also, no cavalry may be used. Also, no flyers, chariots, or Monsters may be used. War Machines are vital however.

There are five types of ship in Warhammer FB: Warship:
 Sloop
 Frigate
 Man’o’War
 Battleship
 Dreadnought

Sloops are tiny things, with no more than two War Machines each, whereas a massive dreadnought has ten, and can truly rip through any opponent.

The smaller the Ship, the smaller amount of men it can hold, and the fact that it is a lot less robust than larger ships, also means that they will cripple easily.

Here is a small Table for each type of ship (additional Characteristics are explained Later):
Ship/C/T/Sp/W/A/M/Pts
Sloop/15/7/10/10/2/1/15
Frigate/25/8/12/15/4/1/25
Man’O’War/35/9/15/20/6/2/50
Battleship/45/10/18/25/8/2/65
Dreadnought/50/10/20/30/10/3/75

C = Capacity, this is the maximum Unit Strength that a ship can hold.
T= Toughness
Sp = Speed, this is how many Inches a ship may move (they turn in the same way as a regiment does)
W = Wounds
A = Arnaments, how many War Machines a Ship can hold.
M = Masts, the number of masts on a model.

You may have noticed that the Ships have incredibly high Wound values, this is because when a ship loses all it’s wounds, it sinks, and a ship sinking rarely happens in naval warfare.

What is far more likely however, is that a ship is crippled, maybe even set alight, and is forced to retreat. If a ship is reduced to a third (rounding down) of it’s original wounds it is crippled. If a ship is crippled then it’s speed is reduced to a half, if it still wants to fire. It can (at any point, not just when crippled) move an extra 2D6 in the movement phase, as long as it doesn’t fire, and towards the closest board edge, like it is fleeing, but can rally at any point. If a ship is reduced to a third of it’s Wounds, then the Captain, or whoever has the highest leadership, takes a break test, or flees in the same manner explained above. It can also rally in the usual manner, testing with the Captain, or whoever has the highest, leadership.

Catching Fire.
Ships can also catch fire, if a weapon, which has flaming attacks, causes a wound, then a ship catches fire, this means it takes a strength 8 hit at the beginning of every turn. Place a Suitable marker for a ship on fire.

Masts.
A war machine may aim at a ships mast, masts have 3 wounds, and the same toughness as their ship. War Machines can chose to aim at masts, but in doing this they must roll against the crews ballistic skill, if they miss the shot is ignored (it impacts harmlessly in the sea). If they hit then they roll to wound etc. like usual. If a mast loses all it’s wounds, it is destroyed. Mark it with a suitable marker (Removable Masts are a good idea). If all a ships masts are destroyed, then every turn it drifts 2 D6 in the direction of the current. If this brings it off the edge of the battle zone, then it counts of having fled. If it brings it into contact with a harbour or the shore, it takes D6 wounds, and can no longer move. A Ship cannot move voluntarily while drifting. Also, for every Mast a ship loses, it’s speed drops by 5.

War Machines Onboard ships.
War Machines onboard ships may not move position, also, they have a 45 degree Arc of Fire where they can rotate, the centre of the Arc is straight outward at a 90 degree angle from the side, front, or rear of the ship. Any shots by Warmachines (excluding tone throwers) fired at an enemy ship which is 3” away or closer automatically hit if directed on the hull.

Shore Batteries.

Shore batteries can be bought as ordinary War Machines, but instead of one war machine, you get two, for half the points. But! They may only be used if you are the defender of a harbour mission. They also may not move, but have a full 360 degree field of fire. Shore Batteries are great defensive weapons, but are a terrible drain of points, so use them wisely.

The Wind.
When a ship with sails travels in the same direction as the wind, it gains + 2 speed, if it travels against it, it loses –2.

Wow,
First Time I've been to Warhammer World in 2 years or so, and oh my lord it hasn't changed a bit!

Ok, well the 6 mile cycle was worth it, in the searing heat, my Games Workshop box stuffed into my brothers bag. Which Broke, whoops!

Well, I was facing what I thought was going to be some Tough opposition, my friend who went with me was to be fielding Empire, at 1000 points, he'd managed to pack in a large amount of state troops, With a Unit of Spear men, Halberdiers, Hand gunners, which got replaced by Free Company quite quickly. This was all backed up by two Captains, a unit of Inner Circle knights, and a Great Cannon with a Master Engineer. I reckoned that if he managed to reach my line in one piece I'd had it, only fielding 2 CC units, 10 warriors and 10 long beards!

I did however manage to add in a character killing Thane, a Bolt Thrower, 2 cannons, 10 Quarrellers, and 10 Thunderers, which was going to inflict the most casualties.

We played two games, with a quick trip to Bugman's Bar in-between to have a refreshing drink, and a chat about the game.

The First game had some interesting terrain - despite my best efforts there was a "wall" of terrain in the centre, most of which was impassable, and I managed to secure myself a Hill, which I piled all of my Gun line on. The game was boring after I let lose on my first turn - managing to cause panic tests on his Hand Gunners, Spear men, and Halberdiers, although only one detachment of Handgunners and the Spearmen actually fled. After this he decided the best thing to do would be to hide behind the "wall" and try to capture Table Quarters. I however managed to counter this - and the game was a draw. 100 Victory Points, against 100. Quite Boring.

After this I ordered a Model that was to change the Fluff behind my force as I try to Expand it to 3000 Points.

The Model in question was Dwarf Engineer Guildmaster, Burlock Damminson. Yes, I was going to collect the army of the Engineer Guild - If such a thing exists. I have great plans for the Model! I'm going to cut the ridiculous standard off, and I also won't glue him into his base.

I'm then going to start a quite ambitious project to create some mechanical shieldbearers for him - a steam powered transport for him, using parts off a steam tank. Hopefully it will create a nice centre piece to my army, along with a Dwarf steam tank I'm planning on making with the remains, which unfortunately is useless - as it carries the Throng's supply of Ale, which the Crew have taken a liking too!

Anyway - onto the Second and final battle of the day, this was slightly more exciting, my Bulgarian opponent tried a refused flank, with some Spearmen holding the other flank, my Longbeards and Warriors managed to take out the Knights, and the Halberdiers and Free Company took the full force of my artillery, almost completely wiping them out and leaving my remaining Long beards to mop them up, though the Halberdiers managed to take out my Warriors (who had already held against the Knight's charge) and Thunderers (who helped deplete the Free Company's ranks, along with a few Halberdiers) which were my only real casualties - a few Longbeards were killed and my Quarrellers managed to contest the Table Quarter the Spearmen were in :D

The Result was a Solid victory in my favour.
After this, quite tense (even if it doesn't sound it) battle we packed up, and headed back into Bugman's Bar, for more Drinks and some Burgers (Bugman's Burgers to be precise)

So that was my day - I'll keep you posted on building the mechanical Shield Bearers, although I need to get a Steam Tank kit first!
I'm bored again so it's blog time!

Well I played a game today, against an empire force, Ulric worshippers. The opposing general was actually surprisingly clever with his Ulrician force - he managed to avoid most of my fire power! Which was fearsome - a Flame Cannon, cannon, and Bolt thrower, along with two units of thunderers, although I deployed one of them along with my rangers on my right, which gave me in total a force of 20 warriors, 10 thunderers, and 10 rangers facing 6 Ulrician knights, a large unit of Spearmen, a large unit of free company, a large unit of halberdiers, and a large unit of 16 hand gunners. Supported by a cannon, two captains, and two priests of Ulric - it was a large mountain to climb. So I've written a small Narrative about it :)

The Battle of Karag Dron.
While travelling south to rendezvous with Lord Thurgotson's main force - they had been advancing to the east of the force when they were distracted by a force of Greenskins. They defeated this force, and while giving chase, Thane Gronir's force came across an Ulrician company of around ninety men.
The wild Ulrician captain shouted a Challenge across a small Plateau, and both forces lined up for battle in an old settlement. Thane Gronir put his artillery on his right flank, with his warriors on the left. Unfortunately, the Ulricians quickly redeployed - leaving the fearsome array of artillery nothing to shoot at!
Nonetheless, Thane Gronir's force of forty on the left flank prepared themselves for the oncoming battle - outnumbered over two to one.
The rangers sneaked forward, taking cover in some ruins, firing their bows at the advancing greatswords, before pulling out their axes. The Knights charged forward screaming, the Longbeards running forward to meet them, the only thunderers unit fired into the mass of horses and a trio of Knights feel to the ground, before smashing into the longbeards, these men held their ground and repulsed to Knights quickly, hewing all except for the captain and the priest down, who turned, fleeing. The other group of Warriors lead by Gronir charged forward, crashing into combat with the Halberdiers. The Longbeards followed up their advantage, charging into the free company who broke, the Longbeards chasing them to the ground, slaughtering the lot and capturing their banner to add to their collection. The Halberdiers also broke under the pressure of the Dwarf warriors, who in turn ran them down too. The Spearmen crashed into the Longbeards, as the Priest and captain rallied and charged into the flank of the Long beards, who held their ground to the last man, allowing Thane Gronir to smash into the Flank of the spearmen, scything through them like wheat. The Dwarf Warriors took a charge from the Captain and Priest, and though they lost their champion and half of their squad, they managed to drag both from their high horses. The Miners weathered a storm of grapeshot to kill the cannon crew. The Handgunners and Spearmen withdrew from the battle as a well placed cannon shot saw off the three remaining greatswords.
Special honours were given to the Longbeards and Rangers for their actions.
May Valaya protect their souls.

Well hello and Welcome to yet another Blog on this website!

I'll start off by telling everyone abit about my self, cool?

Thought so.

Well, I'm 16 now, 17 next April (and then things get fun), and I've (just) got a place at my School Sixth Form... woo?

yeah I didn't really want to go - I wanted to go to Welbeck but I failed the Selection (1000 Applicants, 50 places, got down to the last 88 people) but oh well!

Only got a couple of Exams left then I'm freeee!

Plans for the future? Yes, many!

Welll I'm going to see my A levels through and join the TA when I'm 17 (hence the excitment), I'll hopefully be joining the Queens Royal Lancers, doing Armoured recconaisance, even though I can't spell it...

After A levels I'm going to take a gap year and trravel - maybe go on Operations with the TA if possible, then I'll go to University if I've done well enough in my A levels, or just join the Royal Marine Commandos (hence, lots of hences, the name: Royal_Marine_Machine) if I do go to Uni I will join the RMC as an officer.

I was in cadets for around 2 years, but it's gotten incredibly immature nowadays, but thats why I have pictures of me under a Poncho and Holding a Gimpy. :soldier:

I used to play Warhammer FB and 40k Aaages ago but lsot interest - but through boredem I'm back  with my Dwarfs and Orks, and to some extent, maybe Tau.

As alot of people know/worked out I am Wolf Lord Herby's little (more annoying) Brother... Muwahahaha The Evil is here :ghost:

The Ghost was the most Evil Looking smiley i could find, Ok?!?!?!

I can be aggressive and do lsoe my temper easily, but I try to control it and if I do get irratated I am sorry.

Anyway, bored of typing now :) Until Next time People!

Oh yeah, I will be posting things like Projects, battle Reports etc. but I don't have any atm.

Gah, only allowed 4 smileys! :-(
