Dark Eldar Revival. Entry 1.

Rate this Entry
About 7 years ago, I was initially introduced to miniature gaming upon seeing someone reading an old Sisters of Battle codex. After talking about it for a bit, it sounded interesting, and I started actually looking at the miniatures in my local hobby shop.

A few months down the line, I had another person convinced to start Warhammer 40,000 if I did. So off we went to Games Workshop, and purchased the 3rd Edition starter set. He took the bulky, ugly marines. And I snagged the more numerous spiky space elves.

Half a dozen long, confusing games later, I began to expand my new Dark Eldar army. I saw that I didn't have the quality of troops that the Space Marines did. So naturally, I was supposed to have quantity, right?

Off I go, spending every bit of spare money on more warriors and assorted random blisters and boxes of things I liked the idea of. Winding up with around 2000 points of DE. No wyches, no ravagers, and only one raider.

Slowly, over the course of the next few years, I got them all painted up. And packed them up to begin collecting Craftworld Eldar instead. Periodically pulling them back out and half-heartedly thinking I should do something about them. Before realizing I built them up all wrong, and putting them away.

Now, a few more years later, demoralized from the loss of the craftworld eldar codex (Even if I could get my Saim-hann still running, and in fact better than before, it wasn't the same) I trade about 2K of them for 'Nids. Convincing my significant other to play them. With no real plan for my new army besides temporarily playing the small Necron force I have hidden (Ashamed of having any MEQ's.)

After a bit of looking over them again, I finally decided. It was time to dust off the old pointy-heads. To hack and chop and strip and re-glue them into a workable force.

Digging into my bitz boxes, and drawer of leftover eldar from the trade, I spend a day cutting and repositioning and gluing. At the end of the night, I have a fancy-pants custom Jetbike Drachon. Extremely pleased with the result, it seals the deal. I now have someone to lead the Kabal of the Heliotrope Mist as it begins it's rise.

The next step: Collecting funds to get things I can't simply convert from a warrior horde. The rest of the Eldar go on ebay to fund a few more Raiders for the Kabal, while I convert some dark lance troops for sniper squads.

Good luck Sinphonite! I don't know much about Dark Eldar, so they are exotic and mysterious to me. I would like to learn about them, and then kill them all because they are evil and nasty (but so beautiful).

    Wishing you great gaming!
