Dark Eldar Revival. Entry 3.

With everything but the scourges all fixed up, I began painting the first unit. A raider squad, so I could get an idea of how it'll look all together. Upon completion of a few warriors and most of one raider, I finally realized something. I built all of the warriors and most of the rest of the army long before I ever really got into the converting and modeling aspect of the game. They're all very static looking.
Not to be deterred, I figured I'll later buy another box and heavily modify their poses and give them some extra fancy bases. Scattering those 16 amongst the other units should break up some of the monotony. But for now, I want to do a better job of basing the entire army than I normally opt for. Hoping as well that very scenic bases will help.
Now just to figure out how they're going to be based. Something that won't wash out their colors or make them appear too dark...

Sometimes static poses are nice... a lot of us are used to them from the early metal models, and you don't want to make the mistake I made with my Tomb King skeletons where they are posed so dynamically they look like they are raving and dancing, lol
I want to see pics of your models and raider

I'll get picture/s up as soon as I finish painting and basing the rest of the squad.
For Fantasy I leave my models, for the most part, alone. I like the very neat, regimented look of my skele units and things. Though I play a chariot/cavalry TK list usually.
But without the neat formations in 40K I'm not big on having too many troops just standing facing straight with a gun across their chest. Definitely agree that it needs to be done sparingly, but a handful of more dynamic models scattered through the units helps liven things up a bit. And is fun to do.Posted May 4th, 2009 at 03:15 by Sinphonite
