This blog is set up to showcase my army and the things I do with it. I'll be showing pictures of my converting and painting, as well as posting Battle Reports and Tactics I use.

My army is an Imperial Guard force made from entirely Ork models. Every model will have at least minor conversions.

So check back here every so often. I'll have lots of pictures and write up some Tacticas once I get a few games under my belt.

Another Game and This Weeks Goals

Posted November 1st, 2009 at 06:06 by The Prince of Excess
Well, I didn't really feel like going out on Halloween, not a big party guy. They had a nice little party at at the shop I go to, some costumes, food etc. Pretty fun night overall.

I got in one game (groan) but it was a fun one, not very close but fun. Apparently people are hesitant to play me because I have the dominant IG army at the shop, just what I've heard. Kind of a let down but what are you going to do?

My goals for this week are to get all the Vendettas built and paint 2 more squads + a Chimera. I bought my last Chimera so more more proxying with Rhinos, wooh. I'll post some more pics when I get that done, right now I just have more squads done so not to cool.

As for the game, I played 1500 against IG. This guy was pretty new and his buddy made the list. Here's his army.

CCS w/ Straken, 2 Melta and 2 Plasma

Veteran Squad w/ Power Sword, Plasma Pistol, 3 Meltas

Veteran Squad w/ Harker, Demo Charge and Meltabombs

Scout Sentinel w/ HF and Hunter Killer Missile

3 Basilisk w/ 1 Pintle SB (squadded)

2 Russes w/ Lascannon, HBs (squadded)

1 Russ w/ Lascannon, HBs and Hunter Killer Missile

Pretty terrible army. If we played ANYTHING else than what we did I don't know how he could have hoped to win, so of course we got KP Spearhead. *sigh*

He took to the quarter to my right, so I had my left. He had a 3 level building in his quarter, I had the same and a tower in mine. The upper left quarter had a big power plant, the bottom right had a little junkyard. Nice spread for both sides. He gets first turn.

He deploys all his tanks in the back of his quarter because he has superior range. The Vets and Straken hide in the building, Harker and Sentinel Outflank.

I hide a squad in the building, one in the tower and two around the tower for cover. Two are in the open but I give them cover via vehicles. My demolishers hide behind the tower a bit and the Chimera hide behind them. I decide to Outflank the Vendettas for possible rear armor and put my Melta PCS in them instead of Flamers. I fail to steal initiative.

Evil IG Turn 1
I'm a little scared because my army is clumped up to get saves, I took my chances over being in the open. His infantry moves around in the building, having no range. The Russes bounce off my Russes except for a Shaken against my right most Demolisher. The Basilisk drop right in the heart of me but only kill 1 Guardsmen from a unit and 5 from another thanks to bad rolls/scatters and going to ground. Not nearly as bad as it could have been.

Awesome IG Turn 1
Biding my time until reserves. The Shaken Demolisher goes to another piece of terrain, hiding but advancing, I pop smoke. The other Demolisher goes high towards his infantry, smoke as well. My Chimeras with Flamers follow it toward the building. The CCS Chimera stays in the middle to give banner/order support. I get up one unit I sent to ground, the other fails. My autocannons all bounce off Basilisks badly, Demolishers can't fire. The Multi-lasers toast two of Strakens unit. Unproductive turn.

Evil IG Turn 2
He gets Harkers unit but not the Sentinel. He rolls bad for Outflank, they come to my right where I have no units. None of the armor moves, his infantry mull around in the building more, not doing much.

Harker kills a Guardsmen with his HB of justice. The Russes bounce off my Russes again, only doing a shaken to the previously shaken one, he fears them. The Bassies go for armor and fail badly, doing no damage to anything. Poor turn for his dice.

Awesome IG Turn 2
I get all my Reserves, yessssssssss. One Vendetta rolls in behind all his armor, the other one goes to the wrong side. Marbo drops in cover but near the Bassies for a demo charge. My Shaken Russ hangs tight but the undamaged one gets in building range. The Chimeras roll in near him with LoS for MLs.

Marbo blows away a Bassie. The Vendetta + 4 Meltas seeing rear armor blow away a Russ and shake the other, perfect. The far Vendetta Immobilzies a Bassie, damn. All my Autocannons bounce off, again. Strakens unit goes down to a wounded Straken and Meltagun thanks to great cover saves.

Evil IG Turn 3
Sentinel comes on near my Platoons but outside HF range. Everything stays still so he goes to shooting.

The Bassies reduce a unit to half and another to 4 models, one breaks but stays on the table. His shooting Russ bounces off my Russ again. The Sentinel puts a HKM into rear armor of my CCS Chimera and blows off the ML. Straken guns another two guys down but they hold. The Veteran unit bounces off a Russ but Straken Immobilizes one via Plasma Pistol. Harkers unit kills my PCS to a Meltagun but he golds.

Awesome IG Turn 3
My now unshaken Russ rushes his armor, the Chimeras move into ML LoS. My CCS Chimera rushes the Sentinel and they hop out in Plasma range.

I rally my fleeing unit via Orders and give the CCS Bring it Down. They hit with everything, no re-rolls needed, blow off the Sentinels gun and Immobilize it. My Vendettas + Marbo charge blow off a Bassie gun and Immobilize the other one, also shaking the one that can shoot. My Demolisher Immobilizes his unsquadded Russ and the Melta shakes it. The Autocannons do nothing and the MLs kills a few Vets from the Troop unit.

Evil IG Turn 4
Looking bad for him. His Veterans kill Marbo (NOOOOOOO) and Straken does blows off a ML and Immobilizes a Chimera. Harker kills my last Melta. The rest of the shooting does nothing, he just can't hurt my armor. His turns keep getting shorter from now on.

Awesome IG Turn 4
No movement going on for me. The Vendettas result in both Bassies having no shooting and both Immobilized but alive and his squadded Russ dies. My Demolisher blows the Battlecannon off the last Russ. Autocannons and MLs kill off Strakens unit. Plasma finishes the Sentinel.

Evil IG Turn 5
The Veterans hide from my guns the best they can. Harker kills a few Guardsmen and the Russ misses it's Lascannon. Getting close to over.

Awesome IG Turn 5
My CCS embarks and goes back to the middle of my army. Shooting against the Vets kills a few but they don't run. I finish off all the tanks, game over.

Evil IG Turn 6
We get another turn. Harker breaks a unit and advances but nothing else happens. They remain on the table.

Awesome IG Turn 6
I rally the unit before they flee off the board. My shooting breaks the Veterans and kills Harkers unit because it lacks cover. He is tabled and only got 1 KP, blowout victory.

The guy was really nice and a great painter, he had an all Catachan force that looked very good. Tons of camo and conversions. If the game had been objectives or non-spearhead, he would have done even less. I had a damaged Chimera, Immobilized Russ and a few squads on deaths door. Overall everything worked as planned, I didn't Combine my Platoons because I figured cover would hold me over a few turns and it did.

Next week I'll be testing my 2000 list hopefully so stay tuned.
