well, it's been a while since my first blog post. since then i have been to a convention, and also found a new friend in the form of World of Warcraft Miniatures Game. Now before you jump up and down screaming "WoW!!! they took my best friend/boyfriend/girlfriend/relative/whatever else away from me!! I HATE WoW!!!" take a minute and don't look at the WoW part. it is really a good game with a strong core system. they even did their homework when making the booster packs for the game (yes it has random booster boxes that you need to buy. yes they arent cheap. and yes, i could be buying more eldar stuff, but this is a really fun game, and its my newest addiction). instead of going with the good old Magic setup, where u get a bunch of randomly inserted cards from all of the different types, you get 3 random miniatures from the SAME faction! this makes it extremely easy to play sealed games! just take my word for it, go to your local gaming store, and tell em u want to play a demo game of WoW Minis. if they don't have a box open, tell em u might buy one, but first want to play a game. sit down, learn the game (your first game might take an hour at most) and get addicted like me! anyways, onto the convention report. i went to the inaugaral Gorilla Tactics Invitational held in Ypsilanti Michigan (yes, i live in Mi, and yes, it is shaped like a hand, and yes it is cold as F***!! -5 today, not that im bitching). It was a fun day of 40k with a 1500 point 'ard boys tourney. everyone played 5 games, with the top 3 players earning prizes. 1st was 300, 2nd was 135 or 175 i couldnt hear which, and 3rd was 75. you could either use it on stuff there (where all the proceeds went to a charity), or you could have a check mailed to you. cost of entry was 8 bucks door fee, 100% of which went to charity, and 25 bucks for the tourney, which allowed the prizes to be based on how many players there were. i had the mis-fortune of not praying for my dice (yes, i am a minister, and yes, the internet is a great place
) that day, and so the dice gods were not appeased. they brought much bad karma for me that day. i ended up tied for seventh, with fourth place very very within reach, had my rolls been a little more successful. but, i still had fun, and you can always chalk these things up to learning experience!! i learned that the new rules for walker squadrons SUCK!! I hate you GW. You ruined my cheese!! ahh well, such is life. however, i did purchase not one, but TWO fire prizms!! YAY!! and my pile of things to do just got two boxes taller....BOOOOOO!!!! SO. With my return to school this week, and my new years decision to organize my totally disasrous surroundings, i am going to set up a schedule. i will get one thing done per week. whether it be building that new tank, or getting one of many things painted, i will get one damn thing done per week, damnit!! so, starting NEXT week, cuz this week is already half over, and i don't believe in rushing things (hehe, im already procrastinating, not a good sign), i will be building one of my new fire prizms. I have heard that these are a mother to put together, but, thats why i have a week to do it. O, and before i forget, i wanna give a BIG THANK YOU to 40k radio for coming out to the Invitational! It was their big 1st b-day, and i hear the after party was great! i woulda gone but A: i don't drink anymore and B: it was REALLY snowy out, and i had an hour + drive home. HOWEVER it was good getting to meet those guys (i am a bad 40k player, and hadn't yet listened to their show, but i have now! and thats all that counts, right?) and play along side em. needless to say i think they made a few new fans, and i would love to see them become a staple of the GTI every year. They brought humor and excitement along with them, and at 9 o'clock in the morning, that is always welcome! ALSO, they brought Mana energy drinks, which they Most Kindly handed out for free all day long, so a big thank you goes out to those guys for keeping all of us players geekin though the day. Well, thats all for now, tune in next week, when i will have another long drawn out update on my continued humdrum existence, and hopefully a few pictures of a completed Fire Prizm!!

Good post Trav.
The prisms aren't that tough to put together as long as you make sure you pin the hell out of the metal bits so that they are sturdy because they will overbalance the vehicle anyway.
I had to make some modifications to the flying base otherwise the whole thing was so back heavy that it ended upi aimed at th sky.
I'll post some pictures on my blog to inspire you.
