L.O.B.B.A Season I

This thread will be for updates and information on the league as it progresses. On to the rules...

Rules

This league has the following optional rules:

* 8 teams
* 20 matches
* 3 month duration

1. Rounds last approximately one week (Mon-Sun). You must play at least one game within this period, faliure to do so - without the commissioners permission will result in the fixture being nulled and counted as being conceded.
2. Every team must play a game against each teams a minimum of two times
3. No duplicate teams in the league (for this small one, anyway)
4. May play a single team twice in a row, then must play another team
5. 1000000 gold to spend on your team
6. Must be a new team, clean sheet with 100 rating at the start of the season
7. The team may only play other members of the league, for the duration of that season.
8. Only one team per coach in the league
9. Star Players are not allowed in this league. Make you own players become one!
10. Scoring is as so:
* Win 3pts
* Draw 1pt
* Loss 0pts
* Conceded -1pt

11. Dropouts; Some times life just catches up to us all. Should a coach have to withdraw their team or cannot/does not play for longer than four weeks, then they are considered dropped out and will be replaced should there be a coach able to catch up with any games.
12. A two month gap will be set between seasons, allowing for cleaning up of details, perhaps a tournament and recovery
13. Following your game, one of the teams involves is required to post a link to the post match screen here in this thread.

The league will begin on Monday 14th September 2009, from this point on the league will continue until every team has played 20 games each. Once this has happened the season will come to a close and the winner announced, then presented with a ribbon on the forum and their details added to the LOBBA group page. Any additional awards will also be given out at this time.

After each game, those involved - or at least one of them - is required to post on this thread, leaving a link to the post match results page for the game just played. Please make sure you do this, it makes it easier for myself to keep track of what is happening in the league. Thanks.

In addition, there will be some minor awards for certain aspects of the league at the end. So, pay attention to that. They'll most likely be made for sigs, rather than actual ribbons.

The crowd gathered excitedly outside the L.O.B.B.A headquarters, each waiting for the moment the league was officially opened. The list with the team list was pinned up to numerous notice boards around the world that night. Crowds of sport fans gathered as they read the names off, a mixture of races were getting involved in this new league. Now, they waited for the venerable dwarf to open it up for games.

"Well Bob, these dwarf 'bands', if that is what you can call them, are giving it all for the opening ceremony. Those close enough to see the bands are now regretting their positions."

"That's right John. Those bands are giving us all a traditional dwarven welcome. I for one could do without that."

"Wooah, there Bob. I know you hit the Bloodweiser hard, but insulting the league commissioner is the easier way to follow in the footsteps of the infamous elf commentator Caltisa Lightheart. Who, if you remember decided it was a good idea to insult the coach of the Dwarf team, Grommaz's Grinders, after the team lost in the Stone Warden's Tournament to the Chaos team Torbad's Changers. The elf never stood a chance."

"Damnit John, you're right. Anyway.... we have reached the final moments. Wait. Is this confirmed? Yes. Yes, it time. The honourable commissioner Ulrik Flamebeard is making way onto the stand and to the microphone.

*silence. All those gathered wait, expectantly for the dwarf to announce the beginning of the league*

To you all. Welcome to the first ever Librarium-Online Blood Bowl Association League. We have eight new teams all ready and waiting to tear each other apart on the pitch. Who am I to stand in their way of this? I will say this though, I am pleased with the turn out and next year will be even bigger. But for now, let the best team win and...

And the first game of the season is finished!

FUMBBL :: Online Blood Bowl League

Gory affair, as you can see.

Some highlights:

-a skink ballcarrier fouling my trollslayer to death, then getting sent off
-a longbeard achieving a long pass, without a re-roll, with 2 tackle zones on him, into the arms of a waiting runner
-a runner getting double skulls to blitz a ball-carrying skink (which cost me a TD)
-mass collapses from heatwaves
-pitch invasion at the end of the match, who lynched 3/4 of the lizardmen (probably angry dorfs taking their revenge for the dead trollslayer)
-greatest amount of double skulls. evar.

All in all, a good game. Well played arkeh!

That's often the problem with bloodbowl - lose one match badly, and you've a choice of either conceeding a match in order to be able to field a full team or playing on and probably never winning another match as you're always a couple of men down.

and so the first half of the week draws to a close... with only 1 game having been played?! I guess it'll heat up over the weekend - am i right in thinking a minimum of 3 more games are gonna be played before monday according to league rules?

I'll be playing 1-2 games myself this weekend - the first one being a stomping of those pansy High Elves!
