Ok at the end of the summer i have a 2000pts torny to play and am meant to prepare for during the summer before summer starts i would like your oppinion on my list im working towards (i need one more box of knights and one hippogryph)
Sword of heroes
Virtue of audasity
Virtue of duty
10 archers braziers
8 knights of the realm
8 knights errant
8 knights errant
6 knights errant
so what do you think? C&C welcomed
Looks like a very cool list
Only one thing I would have changed, I would try to drop some points to add Grail Knights.
I origionally had a unit but replaced them with a treb a unit of Pegesus knights and a rank of errants...
Basicly too many points...
I wanted some in there but I love my trebs (I made em out of wood myself...)
But my general tactic is to sit in an advantageous possition and pound my opponent with trebs... Ive caught a sarus scarvet out of his unit knocked 5 wounds of a dragon ect ect...
however I have never used a hippogryph lord and im not sure if he is a good investment...
could i tool him better?
Well about your Lord, it depends on what you are going to use him to. If you are going to take out big units in the flank, etc... I would probably give him Gromril Great Helmet, else so you can re-roll your armour saves. Lord at Hippogryph is an exellent shooting target, so beware. Else with sword of heroes and grail shield, he looks good
the basic idea of him is to run up to the biggest baddest combat char (saurus heroes, choas lords, vamp lords ect...) and splat them...
anouther good target is Medium monsterous creatures ie. stegs, manticores, griffins and tough ogre size moddels
he is also a great terror bomb! O&G armies beware...
sadly with the gunlines my best defenceis a 4+ armour and a 4+ ward but then again the hippogryph benefits from it also (thus resoning for grail shield)
If you are going to use him to take out big bad guys, I think he is good. But beware og Bolt throwers etc. Good luck in your tournament
Grail Shield is nice but your Hippogryph will not get a 4+ ward save; only your lord. The Hippogryph will only get the normal 5+ or 6 ward save. They stated this in the Bretonnian FAQ a while back.
That being said, I am a fan of using Hippogryphs. You can really eat through some flanks and rears with a combat lord on the top of one. Armor saves arn't usually an issue because you can usually kill everything in base combat.
Protecting a hippogryph will be the hardest part. When you deploy make sure you place it behind a piece of terrain and hop from terrain to terrain when you move.
I have had a few games where the hippogryph was shot out from under my lord on the 1st or 2nd turn.
The best armies to use a hippogryph against are Vampire Counts, Daemons of Chaos, Beast of Chaos, Warriors of Chaos, Lizardmen, Tomb Kings, and Orcs and Goblins.
None of these armies have much shooting capable of hiting or hurting a hippogryph.
ahh i thought i had read something about that...
but hey my lord can have the gromrill greathelm instead 2+ re-rollable armour is nothing to snigger at...
