This is a list I've developed for an upcoming tournament on the 8th. I've not played it at all, and not ever used M@A hordes before, but they've always worked well for me before in units of 25, and my friend's Chaos Marauder Hordes with Great Weapons does some fantastic things.
Lord (General), Pony, Shield, Virtue of Heroism, Wyrmlance, Cuirass of Fortune, Mantle of Damsel Elena - 234
Prophetess, Level 4, Chalice of Malfleur (Beast) - 245
Total Lord: 499 (23%)
Paladin, BSB, Virtue of Empathy, Standard of Discipline, Pony - 99
Total Hero: 99 (5%)
8 KotR, FC, Banner of Chalons - 226
8 KotR, FC, Banner of Swiftness - 231
40 M@A, FC, Halberds - 227
40 M@A, FC, Halberds - 227
10 Archers, Braizers - 65
Total Core: 976 (44%)
4 Pegasus Knights - 220
5 Mounted Yeomen, Shields - 80
Total Special: 300 (14%)
5 Grail Knights, Std, Woe Banner - 235
Trebuchet - 90
Total Rare: 325 (15%)
The KotR with +1 M will be accompanied by the general and be used as a flanking unit.
Depending on the enemy, the BSB may be placed on his own, or with the other KotR unit (for LoS purposes) near the two hordes of M@A. He grants re-rollable Ld 9 to all peasants up to a foot away.
Grail Knights and Pegasus Knights are for disrupting the enemy fast cavalry/chariots/knights/etc.
This is an interesting combo I've noticed - The general with a flaming weapon at Init 6 will negate any regeneration for wounds later caused by his accompanying knights - while not completely nullifying the unit against something resistant to fire (Dragon Princes for example). The General is a Monster/Character slayer with the HKB with re-rolls of 1 to wound, not to mention the possibility of breathing in combat to get even more possible HKBs.
I think it's a good list.
The things i would love to see added are the second treb and perhaps the small archer unit upgraded to skirmishers, which could make it attractive for the prophetess to hop along with them.
Woe banner, is that the war banner? (pointswise it adds up :p )
Once again, note that killing blow only works in close combat, while the wyrmlance is not allowed to breath when in close combat
Warchief Diggah o da Bloodmoon Squiggahs
I've tweaked this list a bit after a very poor showing of a test against my friend's all Slaanesh Demon army (although, I think Slaanesh is a perfect counter to armies of Bretonnia).
Guildenstern (the general) has been re-kitted.
He now has the Virtue of Purity, an Ogre Blade, Dragonhelm and the Dawnstone (plus a shield and pony) for 229 points.
He's pretty tough now (1+ re-rollable armor save, and always has a 5+ ward) not to mention the off chance the enemy hits him with fire. And he is always Str 6 now, so he doesn't lose his punch in round two of combat. Though he is now vulnerable to poisons and KB.
Elliot (the Prophetess) now uses Heavens magic, as I realized many of the very strong buff spells only work on characters, and not entire units. Still 245
Bardorba (the BSB ) has returned to his usual kit of the Gromril Helmet and Blade of Might. So he is rather survivable at 2+ re-rollable, and is always Str 5 too. - 124 points
The only other changes to the list is the removal of the two magic standards from the KotR units.
