I have been creeping these forms for a bit now trying to figure out what sort of units I should have in my starting army. So far I have purchased 12 knights of the realm (KOTR?) and 25 peasant bowmen. A buddy of mine is also willing to sell me 32 Men-at-Arms.
I know I also need to have 2 characters/heroes. So I was thinking of buying the compulsory BSB and sticking him in with the knights. I also would like to get a damsel and use her for spell protection. I am looking for my starting army to be about 1000 pts.
As for how I would break the untis up here is what I am thinking:
7x KOTR w/ BSB
12x Bowmen w/ Skirmisher
13x Bowmen w/ Skirmisher
Damsel (by herself?)
What do you think? There are lots of peasants and from what I have been reading most ppl think they are useless? I would like to have more knights I think. Maybe another 12. I am also not sure what items to take with each unit.
Well thanks in advance. And sorry for all the noob questions!
I think for a few tweeks you're almost there.
1. Men@Arms are useful if you take the prayer icon, gives them the blessing.
2. Only one unit of skirmish bowmen, that will save some points.
3. combined both unit of KotR either add one for 15 or drop 2
4. A trebuchet can always help, but another unit of Knight Errants would be useful. what ever size you like, supporting attacks for the KotR.
5. Look at making your Damsel a L2 and either Lore of Beast or Life will help.
Good start, and good luck.
Hey thanks for the reply!
Just a few follow up questions. So you think I should lump the bowmen all into one big unit? And also about the knights. I read on a post some where that its better to keep them seperate. Because spells can effect the whole unit and wipe them all out.
You can eithe lump, drop, or make one rank/file and hang back. But BS3/S3 isnt anything to brag about but a second Knight unit to back up your main is.
True, there are plenty of spells in the game that can wipeout whole units but the odds of them being effective at 1000pts is slim and none. I personally like BIG units of knights. So few armies can get ranks and attacks for so few cavalry models, I like to explote that.
