hey all, my first post and im already one of those guys who expects neone out ther to help me with my army list!
any help would be much appreciated thx guys (and gals)
i know the peasant army thing is catching on, but i kinda like knights (hence i play bretts i guess) so im gonna use a few of them, tho if cheezy my army be, then pls feel free to let rip.
oh btw its sposed to be the army of artois (apparently some old guy from ther was good at jousting hence my lord choices) with a bit of column a, bit of column b, but again hopefully not too - "get eveyrthing-ish". (in a trying to get everything sorta way)
armour of agilulf
Virtue of the Joust
Lance of Artois
Gauntlet of the Duel 216pts
sword of might 94pts
Tress of Isolude
Virtue of Discipline
Enchanted Shield 140pts
Damsel aka Scroll Caddy
unbarded steed (cos of model more than nething else)
2 x Dispel Scrolls
8 x Knights of the Realm 216pts
7 x Knights of the Realm 192pts
6 x Knights Errant 161pts
20 x Men at Arms 115pts
pole-arms (aka halberds)
Standard and Musician
12 x Skirmishing bow men 84pts
5 x Mounted Yeoman 87pts
(same again) 87pts
3 Pegasus Knights 175pts
5 Grail Knights 245pts
THERE IS ONE MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THIS ARMY, ITS 2032 PTS. and i really dont know wat to get rid of
i think the best way is to drop a grail knight, put the damsel in ther (making 6) and then pick up a KOR, and then drop the tress of isolude (hitting on 2's, even jst once soo nice tho)
oh for 32 more pts!!
well neway, the army kinda revolves around the 3 main lances. with knights errant (with their str 6 charge, and immune to psych on charge) going for giants and other non-ranked nasties. mounted yeoman flanking. trebuchet squishing, skirmishers trying to protect trebuchet/go for their fast cavalry, and MaA table quarter holding . . i mean 'supporting' (watever that means).
ne advice v helpful, ive not played in a while, espec since new book came out, and always welcoming to critiscism and/or ways to make 32 points dissapear
the new guy (aka Chubbals)
I feel that your losing a lot by not fielding a banner and virtue on your BSB. A good combo is the war banner and +1combat virtue. I use my Yeomen to shield my Quest knights, or Grail knights from enemy missile fire. There's no real reason to field 2 units, unless you want another knight unit shielded. With Knights Errant I've found that it's not worth fielding their banner unless you have at least 2 ranks in their unit. I also usually always put a character in their unit to bolster thier leadership. Instead of a second KOTR unit you might want to field a second KE unit, with the banner. I see maxing out your characters as being another huge benifit. You could field another knight hero. Check other peoples lists out, and play a lot of games. You really have to see each unit on the battlefield to understand how to effectively use it.
hey thx for the tips Errant Squire,
just to mention something, i play (majority of the time neway) against;
-orc and goblin, with gobbo chariots and fanatics being the only certainty.
-dark elfs with no real units (he kinda worked out that t3 for 12+ points aint worth it in ranked up troops, espec against knights) lots of terror, magic dark riders and chariots.
-wood elves (not tree heavy, nemore need being said?)
i guess im just trying to justify the 2 units of mounted yeomen, against the elves and o&g neway. i find fast cav really useful as fanatic fodder / setting up charges, or baiting 18"charge range chariots who sit ther next to each other (when ur main unit take 13 impact hits one time . . . . kinda scarred me for life )
same reason i like the trebuchet i guess, the ability to go squish jst bout newhr.
virtue of duty would be mighty nice on BSB, as would more KE, i jst dont know wher to get the points (it would cost me bout 90pts for that, conveniently the price of a trebuchet, i know . . .)
ill see wat i can do tho, espec against warrior heavy chaos i must admit the yeomen dont seem that useful, so ill b sure to try it thanks.
neone else out ther with any opinions/ideas always helpful
(oh, i was thinking of changing virtue of the joust - re-roll hits on charge
to virtue of confidence, always challenge but re-roll hits/wounds in challenge for same price, i figure with gauntlet of the duel, kinda makes sense, can pick my opponents.)
You could easily justify a second unit of yeomen, if you field 2 of your high end knight unit's (Questing Knights, Grail Knights). For 75 points they're not really that much of a drain on your army if they die. Expect them to, but remember that that the game only lasts 6 turns on average, so any time that they can spend holding something up or diverting attention is good. With the Virtue of Confidence, you can stack it with the Armor of Agilulf. With this combo you get hit on 3 wound on 2 (most of the time on a charge) with rerolls on both to hit and to wound. You can put that combo on any knights. If you put it on your general, then you can also use the sword that makes your opponent re-roll successful armor saves.
