My friend and I were considering playing a 500 point battle, but upon looking at all the minimum stuff Brets need, I don't think it would work. Brettonians need at least-
-1 General (A paladin in this case) minimun points- 74.
- 1 Battle Standard Bearer, minimum points - 74
-1 unit of Knights of the realm, minimum points- 120
Thats 268 points taken up, over half the points, without even giving the player a choice. And who takes bare minimum units/heroes anyway?
That leaves 232 points to play with, in which you need another core unit. Any other damn army could just have a general, then take whatever they bloody like! (including the two core). This means that my beloved Brettonians have no room to work with for anyhthing even mildy interesting. Are there any solutions to this? Has anyone made a 500 point brettonian force work?
For a warbands game, you do not need to have a BSB. The minimum sizes of the KOTR unit is also modified for these types of games
Check Domstrae's 500 pt Warband ... there's an army list and interesting discussion on unit sizes for warband games.
It's only a lance of Grail Knights... won't hurt at all!
Before Warbands was released I was playing in a 500 point league. I fielded the minimums that you mentioned with no upgrades to the KOTR. I fielded 10 bowmen, 10 (or 12?) Men at Arms, and 3 Grail Knights with no upgrades. I did surprisingly well.
well if you think about it a 5 man unit of KotR or a 3 man Grail knight unit is going to be rock hard at 500pts level! and if you want more minis in your 500 pt army do as Errant Squire did and take peasants
