Heres a list I made at work today stressing speed and anti magic defense. Tell me what you think.
Duke on Hippogryph w/ Fracasse, Grail shield, Holy Icon
BSB w/ Impetuous knight, Twilight
Damsel w/ Mane, dispel scroll
Damsel w/ Ruby Goblet, Chalice Malfleur
8 KE w/ errantry banner
10 PB w/ skirmish
IMHO Lord is too expensive. Putting him on the hipp. is very risky. You may be sure, that he will be the first target of any cannon, stone or bolt thrower etc. But if you still want him on the hipp, mayby you could give him an Armuor of midsummer sun + something you like. Holy icon... hmm, Virt of knightly temper instead? Too much anti-magic things. For anti-magic defense, one Lv1 Damsel with 2 DS is enought. Two Lv1 Damsels IMHO is a waste of points. With so fast army like this, you schouldnt have problems to kill at least one enemy mage. What else? Only 2 lances may be not enought, but EK & KotR are good choices PK? 4 instead 5? 2 MY instead of 3? One trebuchet? If tou switch hipp to pegasus, you will be propably able to take another units of PK and mayby second treb.
Generally very interesting army. The main disadvantage is low number of peasants
PS. One of my favourite combo for lord is: gromill helm, virt of knightly temper, insygnia of the quest, GW and horse
Well let me explain in deeper detail the objective of the army. Firstly of course theres a risk of warmachine fire for my general but that could always be said about anything on a monster couldnt it? Midsummer sun would do nothing agaisnt warmachines, save agaisnt bolt throwers and thats not a threat at all since at worst yeah that is one wound but still unlikely. Second, the grail shield is pretty much equal to any other defense I could go with in the army plus it effects the gryph. The rest of his gear is also chosen to make taking such an expensive choice more pheaseable. The justifcation for the point sink is 1. The missing hero choice, 2. To compliment or suppliment the pegasus knight unit depending on the need (since you can flank with a gryph) 3. Mobility of leadership over the field. I dont see just 2 strong blocks of knights, the pegasus knights more than qualify as the third block. A trebuchet would be completely agaisnt the ideal of the army and would just be a waste of points. The damsel's in this army are level 2 I didnt write the specifics of each unit. And I realize thats not hugely nescesary but either beast for better combat or life for better pre combat effects are nice. The damsel's items are balanced IMHO between anti magic, defense, and offense. I might have gone a little crazy on the MY but I think they make agressive pushes much more doable since they can block for knights and before the charge get out of the way to allow them (or of course flee). The peasent bowmen are just a distraction.
You have right. Against cannons etc, Mid. sun have no effect. But on the other hand hipp is a large target and it is much easier to hit him with bolts, crossbows etc. Armor nulify +1 to hit bonus (large target) for shooters, and protects you and the hipp in close combat. IMHO this is big advantage because you haven`t ArSv bonus from hipp, like you have on horses. Putting Lord on the pegasus you are able to hide him eg behid others unit of PK. Hipp is always visible. Also Lord with this armour is now -1 to be hit! By the way, the Grail Shield has no effect on the gryph! It is written that shield increase ward save only for the bearer. If not, please give me link to GW faq, because i heard that some people play this way. I`m sure that this isn`t true, but if I`m wrong please give me a proper link. PK don`t nulify the rank bonus, but they will give you bonus from the flank/rear charge, and its harder to shoot at them, even for the cannons or stone thr.
But if you still want Lord on the hipp, you have to protect him well. I think that most wounds on him will be made during shooting/close combat phase reather than in magic phase.
With treb, you have right again. After thinking for a while I agree with damsels and magic items too. I think that lore of life would be better choice than beast. Units of 8 MY are IMHO a little bit to big/wide (if you make 2 ranks of them, the second rank cannot shoot). I usually prefer two units x6 of them, with shields&standard.
Generally I like your army
