This list is new and untested. In the past I've tried to charge and all that. Only problem is that a lot of my stuff dies before it can even get to the enemy. The Damsels are new, and I think they can help a lot in magical defense. The basic idea is to get a charge with knights, and then get the flank with the pegasi or the M@A. The problem was always that I would charge, and then get hardcore flanked with no way to fight back effectively. I'm considering dropping the M@A and the Paladin on foot for a Trebuchet and enough archers to make 2000. I don't know though. Any suggestions?
Could I please get feedback?? :-((((
I think that the archers with the trebuchet would be the right way to go because u can thin down the enemys ranged units so they dont cause as much damage and possibly rout them from 25% shooting casualties or u could shoot at the enemies combat units making it easier to break them when u hit home with ur knights. plus u dont really need ur M@A's thier crap with WS 2 anyways so go with the ranged.
hope i helped feel free to contact me if u have any other ?'s
Ya I finally got to use a unit of M@A today (never used before) and I just got swallowed. So I think you're right as far as using the ranged stuff. Also, I guess you can only have 1 war banner in an army... didn't know that, kinda messes up that one unit of knights, but hey whatever.
Keep the feedback coming!
i reckon that if your intending your lord to fight duels then replace the "gromril great helm" for "armour of agilulf" WS10, 5 points cheaper and it saves you the cost of a shield (small cost i know, but its enough to make your list a legal 2000pts one)
By the way, M@A's DO NOT SUCK!!! They tie up untis that later get charged by Knights, or they screen your knights. They can kill things, but your unit should be 25-30 strong. Also, I have seven words: USE PEASANT BOWMEN, AND DROP A DAMSEL!!!!!!!!!!!! Who are you fighting against that you need that much magic protection, Skaven triplets?!?!?!
P.S. "Skaven triplets" means three Skaven spellcasters, and they are used in magic-heavy Skaven armies.
Well, one simple way to get yourself under 2000 points would be to drop the Standard and Musician off the Pegasus Knights. The standard is free VP if they get killed and they really shouldn't need either item if your using them properly. Yes, the upgrades are nice to have, but hardly essential for the PK's purpose.
I dont know if it would work for you but it certainly does for me. If you could scrape 4 more points together for your lord from somewhere you can make him into a real combat monster on the charge which is what is realy needed in a bretonnian army in my oppinion.
Now he suffers from just a 2+ save with no fancy wards, but has a possible 8 strength 6 attacks on the charge all with a reroll to hit and to wound. Ive splashed out on him in my army even so far as to mount him on a hipogryph so he can flank enemys and win combat after combat by himself but iv rewritten him a bit to ft into the theme where you have him with your grail knights.
Heartwood Lance (lance with re-roll all failed rolls to wounds)
Virtue of the Joust (re-roll failed rolls to hit when charging with a lance)
Virtue of Knightly Temper (for every wound caused before saves the knight may make another attack).
Now, you charge him into an average unit and your going to kill 7 to 8 every turn, maybe 4 to 5 in elite units, leaving only unit champions and characters to strike back. If you get challenged, dont forget every grail knight can except, so dont throw away your lord to a sneaky enemy character carrying uber attacks with no armour saves alowed. instead send out a grail knight and lose at max 38 points and let the combat res from your general and the rest of the knights do its work.
9 out of 10 times, unless your opponenet is very lucky at getting double ones or you find yourslef against an unbreakable unit you will be running down the enemy anyway and killing any character within it so no problems.
having my guy on hipogryph alows me to flank an enemy unit on the edge of a battle line whilst the rest of my troops smash headlong into the formation. making sure i fight my lords fight first i have the chance to overrun into an ongoing combat in which he the gets to make all theses attaks again.
As for the rest of your list i like it, though i have to agree that the Men-at-arms would be better as bowmen or even mounted yeomen if you fancy. (fast cavalry for the win). Damsels are cool to though maybe loose a scroll off the one with 2 scrolls and spend it on troops. i always take 2 damsels when i chan over more paladins and its deffinatly needed against 90% of the armies out there. A trebuchet is a good idea to get people moving out of the formations they want to hold aswell, once you've got the range right people soon start shifting and opening up units to multiple charges that even Ironbreakers shouldnt stand up to (charging Iron Breakers is not advisable and will only make you cry in the long run, go around them).
Hope ive given you something to think about with the character amd damsels, and i would give serious thought about the trebuchet but maybe play test it first using a different model if your opponent will let you. no poin getting a modell that you dont end up using.
Seconding the call to drop the second damsel.
Archers, Men at Arms and mounted yeomen will all do wonders for this list.

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.
