I have been talking to the people at my local GW store, and they all love Bret forces that are all cavalry. My question is: Is that the best/only good option that Brets have? I've skimmed the new army book, and obviously come to the realization that Brets are very cavalry-heavy(a nice change for a former dwarf player). One problem was that fielding an all-cav force gave me nothing to do in the shooting phase, which gave me the impression that the Brets weren't very good, or at least that all peasants were worthless. Does anyone have an opinion?
Regular peasants are good too, and are at least good for capturing table quarters.
I find that all cav forces are not the best out there for me atleast. In my experience, balanced forces of knights and peasants work much better than an all knight force. Also, you don't get as bored with the army if you mix up your tactics.
I never go anywhere with out a unit of 20-30 peasant bowmen(skirmished of course), at 140-210 pts... you can't beat that. Especially when you fight lightly armoured foes like I do.
Witch Hunters/SOB (WIP) 5W - 2D - 2L
Bretonnians (WIP) 14W - 2D - 8L
Lets not forget Men-at-Arms and Mounted Yeomen. Both are very cheap, very good units that really add alot to a Bretonnian army.
An all mounted army can get quite boring. Its very one dimenional and ignores two phases, magic and shooting.
A combined force not only works better but will stave off boredom.

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.
I love Bretonnian forces that are all-cav simply because they're so much fun to wail on with Wood Elves )
All those tasty gigantic flanks. It's a beautiful thing.
In all seriousness, I think peasant units add a lot of character and flexibility to a Bretonnian force. As has been stated, the all cav force has too many eggs in one basket, and can make things very boring for both sides.
I love when people in my store field huge units of 15 knights, supported by pheasants. Its so fun to flank charge them with 5 of my units, after making the pheasants flee with magic in turn 1-2 :hail:

I beat every army I've faced thus far with an all cav force but I must say..it is so..freaking..boring..do your self a favor and buy some M@A!!
Do you think a 1000pt all bret force would be boring?
Actually, what is better, all Cav EMPIRE or all cav bret?
