I was wondering what the predictions are for bretonnian magic in the future. I know GW has used the damsel concept to develop fluff and diversity to the bretonnian model line but in honesty unless they retract most of the new magic rules when they release the latest bretonnian edition, then outdated is the best they can hope for. I would rather see them scrapped in favor of paladins acting more like my concept of a paladin and have magic similar to that of the priests of the empire. These spells could be very closely tied to the knights and could further enhance their mounted combat capabilities and/or blessing etc...
So what happens to the ladies if you do this? Easy, you could adjust the fluff to give the "damsel" the whole Repanse vibe and say they too are knights but only women are chosen. A simple adaptation that satisfies both fields.
Furthermore, you could incorporate women as entire knight types. A nice posibility would be women are the pegasus knights. In any event I like their significance in the army and lore now and would love to keep it in tact but at the same time I would also like to see casters that flow with the overall theme of the army just a bit more.
I dont think Bret magic is too bad at the moment, if you really want a Magic heavy bret army then its perfectly feasible. 'Spells' for paladins would be cool, but that may cause them to be overpowered, having a good magic phase whilst also being fantastic everywhere else.
Bret magic, commonoly, takes a more defensive stance as that what it is really suppossed to do. Magic resistance for Knight units, damsels being protected by them etc. Its just part of the theme of the army.Just like Dwaves having no magic, but a great resiliance to it.
Also, is there any real reason fluff wise that you couldnt declare your Pegasi Knights to be female now?
The bretonnians could really do with a Joan of Arc style character, theyre the only army that can really do it and it would be a cool bit of fluff and should be the oppertunity for a very nice model.
aut viam inveniam aut faciam / I'll either find a way or make one.
Id like to see the return of some of the Brettonian special characters, Suliaman the Saracen for example, or the Robin Hood one (Bertrand something?)
At the very least they should bring back the models as classic and collectors

I could say my knights are women but if they took the time in the model design to make them actually womanly shaped and just give them that feel rather than me saying, Hey ! BTW theres women under that armor!
Repanse was Bretonnia's Joan of Arc by the way. She even seemed to have excalibur. One of the coolest things about her if I'm not mistaken, is she was a lord that also counted as your BSB. Her actual model was pretty nice, and it was attached to her back. All and all she had some pretty impressive abilities. I would def like to see her brought back. Agan, and I dont know why, but having the pegasus knights dedicated as the female knights alone would grant you a definite ratio of women in the army, just give you that much model diversity (I can rather picture these ornate feather clad suits of armor with a feminine touch) That way they dont have to lose the female factor with the damsels, or at least feel bad for changing to a warrior priest like attitude.
I really don't see any change necessary to Bretonnian magic. Overall I think they have one of the better books out at the moment, and don't really need much changed.
