i was working on equiping my lord on hippogryph, and was wondering if anyone had good combos, i looked at virue of temper, in order ro get enough attacks to break units, combined with grail shield, or the silver lance + gromril helm.
i cant believe i couldnt spell gear. wow.
The gear/virtue list should be chosen based upon what kind of lord you want. With this information we can help build an appropriate character. For instance: A character killer Lord I would give him:
Virtue of Confidence
Sword of the Lady's Champion
Gauntlet of the Duel
I would do this build because it means they have to accept challenges, they're always wounding on a 3+, not too mention he gets to reroll every attack in a duel. and finally he has a really good armor save, 2+ I believe.
For a lord that harasses enemy flanks here's what I would give him:
Virtue of the Knightly Temper
The Heartwood Lance
Armour of Agiluf
I would do this build because you're almost always hitting on a 3+, WS 10, you're rerolling all wound rolls, and you're getting extra attacks, which can mean a possible 8 attacks... I was contemplating the Sword of Heroes, however there aren't too many armies with toughness 5 or higher....
Finally for a all purpose lord here is the build I would give him:
Sword of the Lady's Champion
The Grail Shield
Curiass of Fortune
I would do this build because you get an increased Blessing of the Lady, you get to reroll any rolls of 1 in close combat and you are always wounding on at least a 3+.
This is my take on what I would do with the lord, of course, there are some other nice items to give such as the Holy Icon, if you are up against a heavy magic force.
i have yet to use him unfortunatly, but my current idea is strong siding with him and a unit of grails on one flank, and then just star rolling, im leaning more towards virtue of temper + grail shield + Tress of isoulde, that way he can take out a unit on his own, and if something big comes his way, i got the tress to make it easier.
i woul do your second option except that the virtue of temper only works with non magical weapon.
I corrected the thread title for you
As for what to give him, it really depends on the role you want him to play. Character killer or Monster Slayer will both work, and of course the standard setup for a Lord who can take on a fully ranked enemy unit.
For these i think id go with something like:
Character Killer - Vo Confidence, Silver Lance ot Blessed/BSo Carcasonne/Morning Star of Fracasse/Lance of Artois, Gauntlet of the Duel
Monster Slayer - Vo Heroism/Vo Audacity, Sword of Heroes
Unit Killer - Vo Knightly Temper/Vo Discipline
Thats it for Virtues and Weapons at least, the GG helm can go with any of them, and immunity to KB may be good for the Character killer too.
My favorite character killer/duelist lord:
Grail Vow, Virtue of Confidence, the Lance of Artois, Grail Shield, Gauntlet of the Duel.
Been very successful with it in my experience and you'll be able to even single out unit champions and win via the overkill that you'll do to him.
If you take a Lord w/ a grail shield on a hippogryph, does the improved ward save extend to the Hippogryph? Your mount gains the benefit of the Blessing, but does it gain the benefit of the improved Blessing save from a grail shield?
Don't give him too much gear, hippies are notoriously weak, its all that time spent doing drugs and not working if you ask me...
"A souls screams are merely their cries of thanks to the Chaos
"Horus was weak. Horus was a fool. He had the whole galaxy within his grasp and he let it slip away!" -Abbadon The Despoiler
The Kroot: You are what you eat.
Tyranids: YOU are what WE eat.
the hippy does not get the improved save, its in the GW faq's
