i was wondering if anyone has ever used foot knights, not for tourneys or competitive games, but for friendly games where brets have a clear disadvantage, specifically seiges and naval battles.
also, what do you think would be a good price (points) for a dismounted kotr, same equip and stats, minus lance and horse, i was thinking 13, maybe 14 points.
Minus Horse, 14. Minus Lance, id say 12. Once on foot they lose a lot of their potential, but retaining their Vow keeps their pts a little higher. Wonder if you could still use Lance form..?
The vow is not that good... The are simple men, pretty good defensively with heavy armour, shield and HW bonus, but not very good offensively with only s3. The free unit champion and blessing ward save makes them a touch better. Comparing them to similar statlined and armoured Empire Greatwsords I would put them at 11 points. Remember the horse not only reduces movement and lance effects, but drops their AS.
The imagery in my head of foot knights makes them pretty powerful though, I would almost drop the shields for great weapons and perhaps give them full plate. Or keep hand weapon and shield but give them +1 s or armour piercing? Of course that would up their points by a couple, but I think it would be fluffier.
My question is: What would Foot Knights be doing in naval battles anyways? Perhaps in 400ish pts, and even then...
I'd say use Swordsmen (from the Empire) with Heavy Armour and instead of the Detachment system, give them The Knights Vow? Maybe make them 8pts or something similar.
