Bretonnian Lord - 229
Silver Lance of the Blessed, Cuirass of Fortune, Gauntlet of the Duel, Barded Warhorse, Shield
Slightly cheaper than a maxed out duelist lord, for starters. The way I look at it - against your average unit champion, he'll most likely score 4 wounds, which translates into a +3 Overkill bonus. Not too shabby.
Furthermore, against units without a Champion, he's still killing 3 or 4 members outright.
Against characters, he's nothing spectacular, but 4 strength 6 hits with rerolls are not easy to ignore.
Finally, he doesn't have to automatically issue challenges, that is, he doesn't suffer from the disadvantage of taking Virtue of Confidence. Against dragons and other large, scary monsters, he simply fight it as normal alongside his unit.

So what does he have the the way of a ++ Save?
All it takes is a character/unit champion to get a KB off onto him *ahemWardancersWightGuardExecutionersahem*. The Mantle of Elena may be a savvy investment if you have the points.
If you want a Duellist, I think you should take the Morning Star of Fricasse, with the above item.
He's not a strict duelist lord though, as he doesn't have VoC, he can choose his battles. I could switch the Cuirass out for an enchanted shield and add the mantle to him, but I'd lose the rerolls to wound. Do you think it'd be worth it?
As for the morning star, I'm not really impressed by it, as it only effects magic weapons half the time.
