Hey there. A few days a go my friend came back from his trip to europe and told me he had some info. on the brets coming up for the 7th edition from someone he said was a reliable source who works at the GW HQ. He didnt know much, but he said:
*Theres a chance that Men-at-Arms will either be increased to WS3 or be decreased by a point or two, same for the grail pigrims, and maybe a point decrease from the archers.
*Grail Knights are going to be changed somehow but he said in a good way, and questing knights are also being changed but doesnt know how.
*Most likely getting new heros/speacial characters, and possibly a new unit (unknown).
*Points on knights are being changed
*Supposedly we can have more then 1 peagesus knight unit without a lord or paladin mounted and a lord can join a squad of them, but most likely not.
Well, this defenitly give me a lot to think about but theres a good chance this rumors could of be just rumors, but they do make you think how the bretonnians are going to change for the 7th edition. If anyone else has heard any rumors about them, please feel free to post them, but if its true about the men at arms, i'll be defenitly consider a fluffy peasent force
For now, id take these with a pinch of salt. Brets are a fair way off, DE, WoC, BoC. Skaven, LM and TK are all before them i think. Also, anyone can claim to work at GW HQ lol
It would be nice though... I get picked on at the GW I play at because NOBODY plays brets... And then I charge them and Laugh while they cry... Skaven tears sustain me
Not to doubt your friend, but most of these rumors are way too generic. They sound like something that someone would want to see done to Bretonnia. Also as Phoenix said, DE are in August, and after that WoC are likely November, and rumors have Lizardmen in Q1/Q2 of 2009. After that if you went purely on who needs one, Beasts and Skaven would be in line after that. I'd say TK are worse off than Brets as well, and even Ogres might be before them. My best guess for Bretonnia atm would be in 2010, around Q2/Q4, near the end of the group along with Wood Elves and Dwarves.
It may be that the "vanilla" pegasus becomes a flying cavalry mount for Lords, so they can join these units albeit on a weaker steed.
I have no doubt that questing knights need a new buff - perhaps killing blow or +1S on the charge is adequate compensation for nerfing mounted GW
As for units, it is likely to be something that covers the major flaw in the army - lack of viable units capable of scouting. Maybe warhounds or hunting hounds?
also... a damsel who 1 doesn't look like a late 80's - early 90's sitcom hot chick (or someone who was beat senseless w/ the stick o' less that beautifulness...) and instead looks like a woman who is about to ride to battle (hair should be bundled or braided etc...) and more platic models... Yomen are not worth the price while they are metal, and the damsel would be fun if she was in a box of two plastics like the empire wizards... Maybe a plastic Lord box with LOTS of bits... there is my wishlist... prolly wont happen though
From what I've read on other forums most people seem to think the 0-1 will be dropped from Pegasus Knights, but they'll be moved to the rare section to compensate. Although I'm not sure why they would need to be moved to rare as the restriction can already be removed from the unit by taking a lord on pegasus, so the only thing that would change would be the requirement of taking the character. Like I said, however, this just seems to be the general consensus from alot of what I've read and isn't rumored to be what will actually happen. I doubt anyone at GW is even thinking/working on Bretonnia at this point.
If they do drop the 0-1, I will become a eunuch and serve HM the Queen. (yes I know this will come back to bite me in five years time)
Actually, a second cousin of mine knows someone of the Games Development team, and they're currently playtesting a new Empire book, of all things. We're looking at Cathayan allies, new Warmachines, revised points costs, the Detachment rule looking to be improved vastly, some new rules for each different Knightly Order, an all new character unit (he said something about Witch Hunters), and some new models are in the works. I've seen the sketches, and they look AWESOME. I'm so looking forwards to this.
I wonder why they are playtesting empire rules when they only came out a year and a half ago.
It would be cool if witch hunters were to get some rules, i have been looking for a way to field them since i started empire.
