I'm looking to start a new army and have narrowed it down to empire (of the melee sorts, no guns), bretonnia and high elves, and have been reading up on the bret's recently using a friends army book. I want a "good" army after playing vampire counts for years and I want an army that is on the more realistic side so what ever army I take I won't be taking any monsters or eagles or anything.
Anyways I've always heard bretonians are actually kind of boring to play, that it amounts to point and charge and hope you get the charge. Also their army book looks pretty outdated, are they going to get a new one soon (by soon I mean by this time next year or so) and is there a lot of variety that can be made with the bretonnian list?
Most Notable Achievements:
Killed a Revenant Titan in one shot.
Killed 900 pts worth of Blood Angels in 2 turns while only loosing 4 pts.
For a fancy idea, try some regiments of men at arms with a dismounted knight in the middle. Gives his leadership at 12 inches.
Oh and their banners don't give VPs, so always take them for extra CR.
Well, Bretonnians are lacking in some aspects, but they are a good army to play, I mean they pack a punch on those Lance charges. A new book for Bretonnia within the year looks vague, as it was redone in 6th, I don't remember I played 5th then left for 4 years, mostly doing my Black Templars, and getting into 7th I found the new book. Anyway a new book for the army may come in about a couple years, I maybe exaggerating, year and a half. . . Also Bretonnians are really fun to paint, but also very difficult and a tendency to annoy, but fun. As of now they are still a good army to play, you just need to find a good list against every army now and then, but they are pretty stable, don't get me wrong, there a few things I want redone, but I'll have to wait, till then I will pray and charge my foes until nothing is left. . .
