hi! I'm new to Bretonnia and have just bought the models i need to make a 1.5k list. This is the rundown of what i plan to do. any suggestions?
Virtue of discipline
Armour of Agilulf
Gauntlet of the Duel
BSB - banner of defence
Virtue of Duty
Damsel on foot
2 x Dispel Scroll
Warhorse with barding
6 x KotR
8 x KotR
16 x Men-at-arms
10 x Peasant Bowmen
Musician & standard
4 x Pegasus Knights
Total - 1494 points
The paladin, BSB and mounted damsel join the unit of 6 knights with the warbanner to become a well defended sledgehammer unit whose flanks are protected by the other unit of knights. the men at arms and archers refuse one flank and cause a bit of nuisance of themselves whilst the pegasus knights draw attention to help set up rear and flank charges.
What do you guys think?
Given your plan to put 3 of your characters in one massive unit, you probably don't need virtue of discipline (that's the one where you don't get outnumbered, right?). You are also not optimised for using gauntlet of the duel. It feels like you were just filling up points with your general.
Your BSB cannot have a lance or a sheild.
Your mounted damsel should probably drop the potion sacre, as it is pretty rubish. A 50 point allowance does not mean you have to use all 50 points. I also feel that the holy icon (3 magic resist, right?) is a bit of a waste unless you plan of facing down chaos tzeench magic lines. I would much prefer the silver mirror, personally.
You damsel on foot is fine. Put her with your archers.
Your peasants are also a mess. Anything that cheap needs to be run in large numbers. If you run them like this you will think they suck and never run them again, which is a shame, because both units are solid. Instead, drop the MaA completely and grab at least 20 skirmish bowmen. Combined with the damsel they are hard to shift with magic or shooting and stand a decent chance of actually killing something. Drop the standard, as you auto-lose in combat anyway. Get a brazier instead (useless in most games, but you won't miss the points; in other matchups it's a game winner). Light armour is an interesting choice; let me know how it works out for you.
Your knight units are decent. I would personally give the warbanner to your main hammer unit and banner of twighlight or chalons to the smaller unit. That way you can run them along a flank to hunt warmachines or mages if you need to.
I don't use pegasus knights, but they are a solid unit. They should do fine as long as you use them properly (and you would be shocked at how many people don't).
Since starting Bretonnians: 19 wins, no losses, no draws.
I run 5 blocks of Knights, 1 grail with lord, 3 KofK, 2 paladins, paladin BSB and one errant knight with a damsel and two scrolls. I rounded it off with 3 Peg knights and a unit of 5 yeoman.
For the Brits to be successful they must get the charge off. And then they need to break what they hit.
We do not get many draws.
