So, today, a friend of mine who works at a store that sells warhammer products told me that a GW rep told his boss not to order Bretonnian knights, which one can deduce that at least they have a new version of Knights coming out. An confirmed reports at all?
How popular are Bretts at your store? There's an Indie here that doesn't stock Inquisition stuff anymore, since GW have told them not to bother, because no-one buys them. Could there be a similar case going on where you are, perhaps?
Otherwise, I can't say I've heard rumours of new knight models. If so, I'd say GW were inspired by the amazing job they did of the Chaos Knights, and were hoping to improve the Brett knights, which would suggest that there is no new book coming out any time soon.
If I'm wrong, then there could be a new book coming out before the year is over, which is being hinted at to your store. Hopefully the models will be up to the standards of some of these previous ones, if that is indeed the case.
what type of deductive reasoning leads you to believe this? It sounds like no one is buying bretts, and that the store manager decided he didn't need to have boxes of inventory sitting on his shelf if no one was buying it.
We know that the Empire 1.5 is coming out this summer. We know that skaven and beasts aren't too far behind. Some time after that is tombkings. GW has repeatedly mentioned that the Bret and Wood Elf books are fine and won't need to be redone any time soon.
Well, first off, It's not a GW store, so Games Workshop has no need to tell stores not to oder something they aren't selling. So, I'd assume that maybe they are redoing the knights, but not an army book. The boss of this store was told by Games Workshop that they shouldn't oder new knights, that's what I was told, make of that what you will.
It must be a business decision as I recently finished my Bretonnia army. I would be real disappointed especially after I just finished painting 45 various knights. 10 grails one in a big lance formation of 8 with a lord, and two others as paladin stand ins. 4 units of KotR, 3 of eight with a BSB and two other paladins to fill them out and a unit of 6. One errant knight lance of 8 with a damsel hiding in the middle. 4 flying donkeys, as my daughter calls them.
I heard nothing from the store owner or employees nor have I seen anything in the rumour mill about new stuff. My lances look impressive even with my below average paint job on them. The hardest thing was painting all the knights different colors at least the horses and the barding. I figure the armour would be metallic, silver or gold.
Yes the chaos knights look impresive because well they are chaos with all the spikes and stuff. But clear lines and forms can look nice also. And what is the bottom line? That you have more of your army on the game board than the other guy at the end of the game. Or if you are like me your army is in the dead pile getting ready to play another.
I driff from the topic but I did a lot of searching before I spent my money. Kind of like the difference between the new and the older LM monsters. Therefore I believe that it was a local choice not a world wide one. Our store barely carries any TK nor does it carry more than one unit of special space marine chapters. But you can order on Tuesday morning and get it friday.
