Thought I'd post here because I don't know if the discussion is appropriate for that other VC thread in the Army Lists area.
I'll be playing a game against VCs at 1,500 points. What do people think: would it be better to take a unit of Grail Knights for the Magical Attacks (giving me killing power against Wraiths and Spirit Hosts), or should I just save the points and try to avoid those Ethereal units?
The one really good reason I see to take a Trebuchet is that there is a small chance I could knock off the general if he rolls bad for the Look Out Sir rule.
Without Grail Knights though, Magical Attacks seem to be non-existant. There is no way I would want to rely on Damsels for magical attacking power seeing as how they might generate spells with no offensive ability. Having no real Magical Attacks seems kinda scary...

I'm a personal believer that you can never go wrong with a unit of Grail Knights. Though it might be for different reasons. The grail knights have a high number of high strength attacks, which they can of course use to take out those nasty ethereal units, but can also be unleashed against other units just as effectively.
The trebuchet can be a useful addition to the army. If you wanted to save points you could upgrade all of your heroes to grail knights, giving you magical attacks in a pinch. The trebuchet does have its drawbacks, mainly that it has a chance to blow itself up.
Personally, as a catch all, I would say: go with Grail Knights.
My enemy's enemy is a problem for later. In the meantime, they might be useful.
well, since you have to have at least 2 characters, I'd take a magical sword on one or both of your nobles. Either that, take the grail vow on one and regular lance with virtue of the lance. That way he doesn't run away even if beat in combat and he can take the unit on by himself.
At your point level, I don't think I could waste that many points on one unit no matter how good they are,.
I play Vampire Counts a lot. I wouldn't bring my Grail Knights against Vamps in a 1500 point army. With Wraiths being Ethreal and skirmishers; actually getting a charge on them is very difficult.
More units that you can set up flank charges with would be more useful I think.
