I've got a battle organised for Tuesday against my mates new undead list. At the moment I'll be taking my all mounted list ( which is up in the army list section) but I was wondering if I could get some tips, tactical and list wise, against his list.
As far as his list goes he has skeletons and corpse carts to back up a large unit of tooled graveguard lots of vamps 6 bound spells 15/16 power dice per phase as well. Basically the graveguard are his core unit with all other units as chaff to aid it.
So any advice helpful!
Thanks in advance
that a nice vampire list.
your men are dead :p
i would suggest grailknights and alot of fast hitting heavy cavalry, many knights errant especially. Immune to fear on charge will help out, and i hear that a fair way to kill the vampires is to go in fast before they build up a necroforce
he has the option to upgrade his graveguard with great weapons, that makes em S6 infantry with wight blades. I think using several small units knights will have better effect: if you will not destroy the entire unit in one turn, unlike one big lance formation you get to use extra champion attacks to keep them undeads from fighting back in round 2+
i dont know how much anti magic you will be able to get without sacrificing your knights hitting power. every bit of dispel will help
Warchief Diggah o da Bloodmoon Squiggahs
One tactic I dreamed up after loosing from VC badly with my empire is the following:
Big Note: This would be very dependent on how your opponent positions his units, but you might be able to align yours to pull it off.
My enemy advanced as one solid block. With a unit of graveguard in the middle (containing wight bsb), flanked by 2 skeleton units.
Behind each skeleton unit was a corpse cart and behind the graveguard was a small skeleton unit with his necromancers and vampire. Around this he had a few loose dire wolves and wraiths. Now the front row of the blocks was a straight line, with the flanks practically touching.
Now what I would do with 4 knight units in charge in such a way that 2 units are touching both a skeleton unit and the grave guard unit. This will link the combat into one massive combat. This means all his units will suffer the massive damage from the CR. Which is basically the combined kills made by 4 knight units. This would work especially nicely since the easy skeleton kills would create CR kills on the grave guard.
So basically try to link more knight units, through the enemy into one big combat.
I don't know how well it works in practice though. Maybe others have more advice on this.
