Now that Questing Knights picked up a little boost in 8th, I thought I could use some in my army. I had never looked to closely at the current metal models, but was not real fond of them. So, I stole the leftover arms from my son's Empire Greatswords and modified them to fit the regular knight - I just made the sword a little bigger! There are three extra arm sets with the GWs and with a little other modifying a group of 6 with command should work out.
These are a work in progress and I will add a shoulder shield and maybe a big sword sheath strapped across the back.
Any ideas on other stuff I can add?
I like the shoulder sheath for the swords; does it make sense to include a shield though? Figure they "can't" use it while attacking with a 2-handed sword and I doubt they would attempt to defend with it either.
Nice! That is a good conversion. Personally, I like the current QK models, but more power to you.
And yes it is a good idea to put the shields on...the reason being they do have shields as part of their equipment. And they use those shields prior to entering into close combat. So against ranged attacks, etc they actually still have a 2+ armor save. Only in CC does it drop to 3+. Adding the shields to the model will prevent an awkward discussion with your opponent: "what do you mean they have shields? I dont see any shields!"
Ah good to know. Thanks for the clarification on the shield.
Perfect! I had originally thought just the little shouulder shields that the knights come with (although they are a little large, scale-wise) but, since the QK do come with a normal shield as part of their equipment it would look great to have it strapped across their backs. And, it would stop arguments, since they do get the +1 AS before they get into combat.
