I was wondering if anyone uses his BSB on foot, e.g. in a unit of peasants? To me such a character looks like a small general who keeps the commoners on the right track while the Lord is away to chase some nasty enemies.
Its an interesting way to protect your peasents if you know you arent going to be near other knights. I'd put the braid on him instead of a special banner. I would love to see Ld 9 peasents for one round.
I often use a paladin on foot in the middle of a line of peasant units - giving them all LD8 is a huge bonus to their effectiveness. Since you have to have one compulsory paladin (the BS it might just as well be him.
My most common use for him though, is to put him in a unit of knights, toting a nice powerful banner (or even a cheap one - the War Banner comes to mind). Any extra hitting power you can give the knights is always worthwhile, as it's usually them that will win the game for you, not the peasants.
