After many years of servitude I have finally begun painting my Bretonnian Army.
I am starting with an initial goal of a 1,000 point force which consists of:
General - Paladin
Paladin Battle Standard
Level 1 Damsel
These 3 characters lead my Knights of the Realm
6 Knights of the Realm
6 Knights Errant
6 Mounted Yeomen
20 Men at Arms
12 Bowmen Skirmishers
So far I have painted most of this initial force. I just have the knights of the realm and the characters to paint. I have posted photos of the (almost) finished units in the gallery. There is still a bit of fine detail I would like to do in places like eyes and decals.
I'd love to get some feedback and hear what you think of the army so far.
Outstanding work!! The colors are very muted, yet blend very nicely. Especially on the peasants it looks just like how I would imagine peasants would look like in the day...I also like the few head swaps you did to get some different looking characters.
Really nice work on the Damsel - she is excellent!!
oh this is so inpirational!
I am behind schedule on my league painting and this is going to make me catch up this weekend.
very nice king, with the background, it allmost looks like some ancient painting. The rest of the army is splendid.
That guy standing on the left of your men-at-arms standard : what is that?
Warchief Diggah o da Bloodmoon Squiggahs
Hi guys. Thanks for the nice comments.
The guy on the left of my Men at Arms standard would be the champion. He's just a standard captain made from the Men at Arms box set, with an added decal, same as the banner, to show him as the obvious captain.
The guy on the right is an old Hero on foot with a warhammer and I've given him a Men at Arms shield to fit in. Although I can't find anything in the current rules that says you're allowed to use a Hero on foot. I can still use him as my general though if he gets knocked off a Pegasus or Hippogriff.
I must have about 3,000 points or more to paint up, basically everything you can get for a Bretonnian army (usually 2 units of each core unit). The only thing I don't have are Questing Knights but that could change any day.
The character conversion I did is my Prince, son of my Lord, who is only young and leads my Knights Errant. I'm still converting my Lord, Battle Standard and mounted Damsel, the three characters that will lead my Knights of the Realm.
I was thinking of doing some free hand designs on the bottom of the Damsel's cloak, but I'm not sure if she really needs it.
BTW: If anyone is looking for some Lichen, like the shrubs on my bases, I am currently selling some on ebay.
