Atm my wood elf army sits about 2000 points and I am quite proud of it, however I've now reached the point where I have everything I need for my List and theirs nothing else i want to buy purely for painting. With this in mind I decided to keep my self busy in terms of painting and start a small bretonnian army, I quite like the background and the relationship they have with the wood elves and I thought it'd be great to have them on the table at the same time.
With that in mind does anyone have any thoughts on what my army should contain to best compliment my wood elf list:
Level 4 (Lore Of Life)
Divination Orb, Rhymers Harp
Armor of Destiny
AHW, Light Armor, Shield
Hail of Doom Arrow, Dragonhelm
Glade Guard x12
Banner of Eternal Flame
Glade Guard x10
Musician, Standard Bearer
Glade Guard x10
Glade Guard Scouts x5
Warhawk Riders x3
Atm I'm thinking of keeping the bretonnian army at 1000points, I already have the battalion box set and a paladin BSB to work from so far how they are equipped and what I should get next I've no idea so any ideas would be appreciated.
plenty of choices right?
- Something the elves really lack is cheap troops like men-at-arms, not excellent fighters but a great way to keep enemy big boyz busy while you snipe the rest off. the reliquary with extra infantry could be a great alternative, stubborn aswell
- The archers with braziers are nice cheap alternative to wood elves, but since you allready use the flaming banner these may not be needed as much.
- Trebuchet.. nuff said.
- Any kind of cavalry will fit in nicely. high strength charge and small frontage.
i find the old squires to fit the wood elf theme the most. pegasi aswell. It's hard to make shiny knights fit in the woods sometimes.
Warchief Diggah o da Bloodmoon Squiggahs
my first choice was 30 grail pilgrims with reliquary to hold the line but at over £100 i'm a little reluctant to make such an investment without playing a few games with the bretonians first. I think i'll be better off taking lots of peasants as you suggest to make a suitable cheap anvil for my treekin, treeman and hawk riders or at the very least a diversion to keep the glade guard safe. I'm not sure whether to make my 8 knights into KE or KoTR though and I think i'll get 2 more pegasi to round out the unit, hawk and pegasi riders attacking a unit will look pretty imposing even if they aren't that great in combat.
