Ok, so after todays tournament (led by myself) I decided to change my Vampire Undead Force into a Bretonian "Knightly" Force. How shoud I start? What should I buy first, and what after that?

you better start by buying some knights and a battle standerd bearer because they are the core of you army. after that maybe a paladin (this noble man as worth his points) . you can keep extending your army whith knights , this is what i always take with me to the battlefield . have funOriginally posted by Dr.Virus@Dec 5 2004, 17:41

I would say:
1 battle standard bearer
2 boxes of knight of the realm
1 box of knight errant (the same as above)(the box)
And then questing knights or mounted yeomen.
And offcourse grail knight in your later force.
But if you like peasants, you should buy men at arms, trebuchets, battle pilgrims and archers.

i think maybe some men at arms bowmen, as i don't collect i can't say much more but if you have no missile support you tend to get massacered (but i haven't played an all cavalry force where you reach the enemy quite quickly)

Get massacred? Umm...I don't think you really understand Bretonnia. My all Knightly force has gone 14-0, and has only failed to GET a massacre 4 times. :blink:Originally posted by grandmoaner@Dec 16 2004, 10:55

-My Warrior Priest will challenge your Chaos Lord
-OK, my Chaos lord will slaughter you
-My warrior priest with Van Hortsmen's Speculum will take his 7 Str 8 attacks. You die.
-Take your model off the table, he's dead
Yeah true, Bretonnians don't need fire support. S3 bows from peasants aren't exactly going to kill a lot anyway.
I also suggest going for a few boxes of knights to start with, the BSB is essential and a paladin. Thats the start of the army, then expand to which style you like, magic defence is good so the damsels are needed, then go for peasants or more knights. Pegasus knights are excellent.

If I were to start from scratch on a Bretonnian army today, I would probably buy
the bretonnian battallion set, a damsel blister, and the army book.
The batallion is really great value, with all the ingredients for a small, well-rounded force (though honestly, I'd like another box of men-at-arms over the pegasus knights, but that's me).
I usually convert my own characters, so the way I would play it, I'd use a normal plastic knight banner bearer as the bsb, since in initially I'd play such small games that I'd only get that one unit of knights, who only needs that one banner anyway. I'd also convert a paladin from the set, I'm not too fond of the knight lord blister models, but again that's a matter of taste.
When I later decide to expand the army, I'd get another box of knights and men-at-arms first, then start thinking about other, more specialised units.
