G'day my fine lords and ladies; I hereby present this thread to you all for use in the fighting against Bretonniansr. This is to be used in whatever way you all seem fit but the idea I have behind this is...
A tactica type thing. All generals are welcome to post here any tips, tactics, unit break downs, do and don't of the armies and all list break downs (note - not army lists but maybe a skeleton list used to build off etc)
Well that's the idea, I hope it works. I will be watching these and any abuse of thread or things I decide that are not to be in here will be deleted without warning.
The top 5 things that ruin a Bretonnian's day:
1. WarMachines - This is a no-brainer. Simply put, nothing cheers up a warmachine crew than to have majestic knights to shoot at... Bolt Throwers, especially, have a great time of it. And of course, never forget the dreaded helblaster!
2. Stubborn/Unbreakable units - Bretonnians hate getting stuck in combat... this is where your opponent's greater numbers can swarm the lances with their flanks
3. Chariots - Chariots, especially elven chariots are tough to take on because the Bretonnians cannot gear themselves up to S7!!
4. Fleeing from a Bretonnian charge - This sucks. Really sucks. It makes a mockery of the mighty Bretonnian charge, and strands the knights in the middle of the field...
5. Handgunners - They are almost as bad as the warmachines... and much cheaper!
Of course, good generals can use the terrain to compensate, but these are the top things on a Bretonnian's threat list!
It's only a lance of Grail Knights... won't hurt at all!
Str 4 more often then not is what kills my Knights. It's just enough to wound on 3's, make me save on 3(or 4), and then get a 6 ward save. I've found that most of the time anything with higher strength usually runs into my ward save. Unbreakable/stubborn units really kill me too.
The Dwarfs are the hardest for me to beat, as they are incredibly tough and will stick like superglue to your knights! And they have killer war machines.
Dwarfs are easily defeated by their flanks and if you get around you should be able to kill them, by destroying the engineers and getting the combat bonus (even dwarfs fail their LD tests sometimes):ninja:
Empire detachment will absolutely MUTILATE bretonians. Using two 8-man Hand gunners, and then a 16man squad of pikes will do in any unit, but especially knights. The pikes flee while both handgunner units stand and shoot. THe knights will fail the charge against the pikes, take a 16model stand and shoot reaction, be stuck infront of another volley of 16guns, and then the pikes can move back to their position and await the actual charge, which they can deal with using their pikes and ranks.
High ELven spearmen fight in three ranks. Kill the first rank, heck! even kill the second rank, and the THRID rank will still skewer you.
Wood Elves... dear  god... "Catch me if you can!"
Vampire Counts: are you going to take that Fear check before you charge. Oh, if you don't, I have a mob of (ethereals/wolves/black knights/blood dragon vampire) that would love to meat:wacko: you.
I"m surprised no one mentioned this but a bunch of high elf mages with the lore of life is an effective say to stop brets.
Hitting with father of thron chucks a few str 5 hits while stone chucks a ton of str 4 rocks. Will at least make some sort of dent. But the best part is mistress of the marsh, halves their range.
And well, there's nothing worse for a bret than a failed charge....
"Heresy is like a garden weed, it won't stop feeding until you... BURN THE WHOLE DAMN GARDEN WITH A FLAMER, BURN IT, BURN IT TO HELL!!!!!" "Is there a wittle puppy in the garden? ITS A DAEMON! BURN IT!"
