I was wondering if anyone had any tactics advice for playing againist the dwarves. In our group our lists are often specifically made, so the dwarves will often take lots ironbreakers and a thane with lots of anti-armour upgrades. Does anyone know what to counter this army with?
I use grail and questing knights for my centre line while hitting the flanks with peasants & Pegasus’s. Also a damsel attached to you knights with the ruby goblet is a must.
If his shooting is better than yours (which is highly likely) get into combat as quick as you can, if he has gone with mostly infantry hold of a bit and hit him with a treb or 2. Don't forget your movement is vastly superior to his; use that to your advantage.
thanks, but i was wondering why you would take the ruby goblet againist dwarves?
Because once the unit suffers a wound, any wounds to hit (from none magical sources) are discarded on a 3+ meaning against your KOTR they need to be strength 5 to get the 2+ wound but even then only a roll of 2 will hurt you; I hope that makes sense.
It works the same as having such a high toughness they need to roll 6's to hurt you; being a 1 in 6 chance.
Have a look in your codex it’s in the weargear section under arcane items if my memory severs me (don't have my dex with me at the moment).
the ruby goblet provides a 3 magic resistance.
You guys are reading the goblet wrong. "Better" on to wound is lower. It doesnt do some weird criss crossing of wound tables to nullify down anything that cant wound on a 2+. It simply makes things like a cannon that would wound on a 2+ have to wound on a 3 or better instead.
Domestrae's interpretation seems to make more sense. If the other thing was true i think it would be used a lot more.
