I was reading the 'Best Bretonnian Character Thread' and I got an idea.
-Heavy Armour, Hand Weapon, Barded Warhorse
-Gromril Great Helm
-Virtue of the Penitent
So here is the theory. You got a stubborn lord with a 0+ re-rollable armour save and 6+ ward save (prayer). So charge him into a unit of rank and file troops by himself. Against low str units you have the armour save and ward. Against higher str you get a little worse armour save and a better ward save. You tie up the unit for the entire game. Now, over time you may fail your break test but its a 9 that never changes especially since you are required to have a BSB you could keep him close but out of combat and get the reroll. I think it sounds good on paper. Anybody think it could work? I don't really think I'm going to try and through the BSB into the mix. But just an option.
Well if you read the virtue you cant take magical items, so I'd venture to guess it wont
Well I feel sheepish.
don't worry about it, apparently a lot of people miss that part of the virtue. Here's my question: Is there ever a time when anyone uses the Virtue of the Penitant?
sure I'd stick it on a BSB in some situations perhaps... just to stop from fleeing with a banner
I can see where you're coming from, but you don't think those 40 points could be spent on something more useful, like a magic item/banner of some kind?
I can just never really get over the whole no-magic items/special mounts thing. In low point games the mount thing doesnt hurt as bad, but then again, in low point games, 40 points spent on a magic item can have a pretty big effect. I just don't know.
Only if it’s worth taking a magic banner that is 40pts, IMHO we don't have one that is...other than the banner of defence but I keep that for my grail or questing.I can see where you're coming from, but you don't think those 40 points could be spent on something more useful, like a magic item/banner of some kind?
Absolutely not, ever. Total waste of points.Originally Posted by JeffCR07

If you replaced the irtue with Knightly Temper he would be a killing machine on the charge if he had a lance.
