    Halberds or Spears?

I know that many people have their own personal oppinion about the usefulness of Men at Arms, but for those of you who DO use them: Do you prefer using spears or halberds?

Swordmaster Two: "Ooo... not good. What colour?"
    Swordmaster One: "Green!"

Well both have their strength. Spears are nice because men-at-arms are more or less designed to hold up a unit until you can get a flank charge with your knights in and you don't always want to rush into combat with them so usually they are the ones getting charged. This will leave you more attacks back after your front rank is ravaged. That being said...I use halberds. Because they leave me a decent chance of dishing out some damage and if hy M@A are going down, I want them taking somebody with them.

If M@A are designed to hold a unit until reinforcements arrive, wouldn't it be better to say to hell with both of them and go for hand weapon and shield for the extra armour?

I think it really depends on what roll you want them in and what your plans for them are. Killing soft rank and file, attacking slightly armoured foe, holding the position, holding a unit... Depends on what you want them to do. Though I'd have to question halberds.. Make them hit harder and kill tough stuff? Isn't that what the knights do?

What I would be doing would generally using the handweapons and shields to help with long drawn out combats. I suppose halberds/spears really does depend on the situation. Does the box come with both or is it just one 'weapon' that can be either?

It's one weapon that can be used as either - but it looks more
like a Halberd than a spear (to me anyway). In fact there are several
different versions of the "spear" on the sprue, but none look like
    a simple spear.
