Me and 3 of my friends gonna start playing Fantasy, we already all have a 2000pts 40k Army and we all wanna have a 2000pts Fantasy army. I'm gonna start bretonnian, my friends gonna play Lizardmen, Empire(he havent decided yet) and Vampire Lords. I don't wan't any tactic how to fight them.
All i want is some help building my army.
I was thinking of 3 type of army.
1 : My first one would be more Knight army
- Squad of 7Grail knight + Paladin
- accompagnied with 5 squad of 8 KoTr, 2 of them would be accompagnied by a Paladin and
- And my secret weapon would be the Green Knight.
2 : My second choise would be a more defensive and magic one
- 4 Squad of 16 Bowmen for a total of 365pts.
- A Squad of 11 KotR accompagned with a Standard Paladin for a total of 518pts.
- A Squad of 7 Grail Knight accompagned by a Paladin for 476pts.
- 2 Damsel and a Prophetess on Foot for a total of 635pts.
3 : My third choise would be a Full Peasan army, full of Bowman / MatA / mounted Yeomen. Don't have to explain lol.
Give me your idea to change those army to they can be better. I personally theres not enough unit in a knight army and no shoot so you really need to flank ur enemy fast have luck...
plz give your ideas.
ps. My first language is french sorry if theres lot of mistakes.

brets may be the easiest army in the world to build. Want some advice? Bring knights. I mean thats really all there is to it. No not really but what do you expect to hear? But seriously the best thing you can do is fine tune which knights you bring to match your opponent and hope to beat him through superiour manuvering and/or at least cutting out their greater advantages. Playing against horde armies ? (Orcs, Skaven, etc...) bring peasentry and possibly a hippogryph. Playing against heavy hitters ? (Chaos, Ogres, etc...) Bring grail knights. Playing against Stubborn armies ? (Undead, dwarves, etc..) Bring Questing knights. Use pegasus knights if your going to do a lot of army flanking and use peasents, espically yeomen for all of the mule work. Positioning is one of our greatest assets so dont stay still.
I would say bring Grail Knights. Period.Originally Posted by Domstrae

Grail knights are a little pricey for my taste on a regular basis. Most situations that cause me to use them are: 1) When I'm bringing a prophetess and I want to bestow that excellent MR on a superior unit 2) When I'm less likely to face stone throwers or anything that get cheap shots off on my blessing (guns, fanatics, killing blow) But as nice as GK are stubborn can still cause you grief. QK are better for dealing with stubborn and if you dont bring GK in a situation like that you can afford nearly 50% more of them.
The real money knight though if i didnt express this before is the pegasus knight. Small units can threaten war machines and single characters or skirmishers very well. As a large unit they can peek around units because of their wideness and use that to fly over and charge. There are several other nice perks to them as well and I would expirement with them more than any non core unit of knights.
I say you should go option 1, and tweak it as follows:
Include 1 unit skirmishing Peasant Bowmen. Include some Mounted Yeomen. Maybe add some pegasus knights. Remember, you must have a battle standard bearer and at least 1 unit Knights of the Realm.
Here's why not the other two:
Option 2: Bowmen are only good against weak targets. And defensive Brets just feel wrong.
Option 3: I've heard peasent armies are actually quite good. But it will take FOREVER to paint.
Dont underestimate the usefullness of the defensive stake though. I once always rejected it for skirmish but if your playing any army with swarms (orcs, skaven, even ogres) it can be very nice to hault their charge.
